CHEYENNE--During Al Simpson's nearly 50 years in government, he hasn't been afraid to take on critics and naysayers of his work in the U.S. Senate or on a variety of high-profile commissions and committees.
But as the co-chair of President Obama's debt commission, the Wyoming Republican said he's been taking an unprecedented amount of flak for the commission's draft proposals to help erase the nation's $13.8 trillion debt.
"I've never had any nastier mail or [been in a] more difficult position in my life," said the 79-year-old Simpson. "Just vicious. People I've known, relatives [saying], "'You son of a bitch. How could you do this?'"

What the h*ll were these people who voted for Obama in those age groups thinking? Young people, by in large, are often stupid. Older people and baby boomers voting for an Islamic Mugabe/Chavez devil deserve what they are going to get.
And Simpson - what a phony POS. He always has this folksy manner but he fed at the public trough his whole life. What a fraud.
Simpson has been a loser for years and years. If he didn’t have a staff he’d be walking around Capitol Hill lost.

Sad but true. The left wants old folks and babies to die unless they are illegals babies or babies they can control.
I have two distant elderly relatives. One was union all his life and he is dumb as dirt. If Obama wanted to turn the White Hut into a mosque - he would probably think it is great.
An older female relative gets her world from network TV news. They had convinced her that Bush is the devil. Another reason why I hate ALL of TV and Hollywood. It is all 24x7 brainwashing.
It just boggles the mind that the boobs keep putting him in office.
The thinking of lifelong senior Democrats is “Democrats are on the side of the little guy, Republicans only care about the rich”. Any argument to the contrary is futile. Believe me I know.
He is a retired US Senator. Taxpayers are providing him with a pension of more than $50,000, and possibly as much as $72,000 a year (it depends on what Senate salaries were his last three years in office, and it is probably closer to $72,000 than $50,000, because he was in the Senate for 18 years and also served in the US House for 10 years.) Plus the same health benefits current members are provided. As a former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives for more than 10 years, he is being paid a pension from the State as well, I assume.

yep my 89 year old MIL voted Obama, and now she’s getting letters that her medicare is changing, just to get a blood test she’ll have to travel over 60 miles. Well I will have to travel the miles to take her
I used to live near Cheyenne, and never understood how this guy stayed in office back then. I think it’s because Wyoming folks are so hard-working they just don’t have a lot of time to spend worrying about what happens in Washington DC, and back then all he was good for is the occasional newspaper photo and a blurb on TV. With the internet, I don’t think he’d ever get elected today, and might just find himself compared to the northbound end of a southbound horse!
My Father was a conservative nearly all his life. That is, until he went on Social Security. After that, he basically became a one issue voter. He was constantly worried about Social Security being cut. While I tried to assure him otherwise (telling him his generation would get it and mine probably wouldn’t), it was to no avail. I think hanging out at the Senior center and listening to the concerns (paranoia) of other seniors affected his judgement. While Dad has passed on, I’ve known other seniors who are in the same position. Its like a mental disease.
