Affected companies are vigorously disputing the report, claiming they never discovered any malicious hardware or reported similar issues to the FBI

The original Bloomberg story said that Amazon actually was the first to discover this and report it to the FBI.

So easy to do given the plethora of equipment from China [or others]. USB with Plug & Play devices have been known for sometime to be susceptible.

One has to question why such exposure took so long if so. Unlikely this is a new tactic and certainly unlikely it has not already been used to mine information.
