Tomorrow is May Day, should be very interesting.
I work for an international company and maintain storage systems worldwide. In my first year in this position, I have learned to deal with the layers of complexity of multiple religions and governments with completely different days off. Besides the international sites, key employees travel and are or are not available based on these days.
So, tomorrow is a bad timeto get something serviced in Rewd China, Vietnam, even Malaysia (they called it a bank holiday, same thing), or was it the Philippines.
Last fall all India and 15% of the folks in the corporate center was unavailable for a week.
Then you have the lunar New Year, and Ramadan. When I decided to take Good Friday off with a floating holiday, it was news to everybody else!
I don't mind people having their own special days, but it does complicate keeping an international concern going in some ways.
