Democratic Buffalo state Sen. Tim Kennedy defeated Republican West Seneca Supervisor Gary Dickson in Tuesday’s New York special election to replace longtime former Rep. Brian Higgins (D-NY).
Kennedy jumped out to a massive 78.4%-21.6% lead over Dickson when the Associated Press projected it to go in his favor, at 9:17 p.m.
“We did it. We did it as a COMMUNITY,” Kennedy wrote on X. “Because that’s what this was all about since Day One. And that’s what it will always be about.”
“I’m honored. I’m humbled. I’m ready to get to Washington and get to work,” he added.

Kennedy is the biggest rat of all.
The vast majority of New Yorkers just keep voting for their own destruction!
There was a chart last year that showed Brian Higgins, the departing, multi-decade democrat congressman, had the highest “investment earnings” of any congress-member in 2023
Then he left in the middle of his term.
Hmmmmm
Like, about, 4-6 other Blue States, NY politics are dominated by a handful of cities and their adjacent suburbs.
Get away from the cities and NY, like Wisconsin, is about as Red as it can be, voters/taxpayer/resident wise.
Sadly, lots of RINOs, slightly Center Left, impostors market themselves as Conservatives only to turn their backs on the people.
No different than, far too many, Republicans in Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina.
That a Republican was routed even upstate is a bitter dose of reality for those insisting Trump could win NY.
Very true. The only problem is they put performed from 2020. Liberals are definitely voting.
Maybe the Republican candidate sucked.
We never win like that in red states.
New York’s 26th congressional district is a congressional district for the United States House of Representatives in Western New York. It includes parts of Erie and Niagara counties. The district includes the cities of Buffalo, Lackawanna, Niagara Falls, Tonawanda, and North Tonawanda.
Went for Obama in 2012. 63-34
Went for Clinton in 2016. 57-38
Went for Biden in 2020. 62-35
See my post #10. Solid Dem district. Anyone expecting a different result is on drugs.
Good post—an example of how to identify cheating.
There was no cheating in this district.
Of course Trump isn't going to win NY and only the most delusional think he might, but not all "upstate" districts resemble some bucolic Norman Rockwell painting, you know.
NY-26 is the most Democrat oriented district in the state outside of metro NYC, and consists of the Buffalo ghetto and most of Erie and Niagara counties. Many parts of the area are probably quite nice, but they are vastly outvoted by the undesirables in the city and the worst of the suburbs.
Profle of NY congressional district 26
It still was a rout, and the Republican still lost by more than he should have, but in these special elections Democrats are always more motivated, funded, prepared and organized than Republicans are. The GOP was never going to come within even 10 points in this case, so they surely didn't even bother to try.
However the most "special" election of all takes place in November, and the RNC, NRSC etc. damn well better not let themselves be steamrolled by the Rats' advantages in all of the categories mentioned above or it's going to be one ugly night.
Trump is not going to win NY. I suspect that his statements to the contrary are intended to encourage Biden to spend time and money in NY. Of course, Trump doesn’t need NY. He needs MI or PA. Without winning at least one of those states, he loses. He also needs to win all of the other battleground states, except WI. But he’s comfortably ahead in those other states, at least he is now.
If that’s the case then why does NYC have RCV...?
I will enjoy watching crime escalate to gigantic proportions in Buffalo. Many, many more murders will be committed when the cannibals reign supreme.
All the Rat suffering in the cities will be well deserved. More please. /spit
For anyone who wants to see the latest numbers...
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/30/us/elections/results-new-york-us-house-26.html
With 94% reporting, 68,212 votes cast.
But we’ll never know for sure without an audit.
Good luck trying to find the enrollment number for NY-26.
NYS doesn’t make that info easily available for some reason.
Go figure.
New Wankers just won’t learn.
Not too many walkaways.
