Columbia University and other private colleges should cough up and help foot the bill for the NYPD having to swarm the Ivy League campus and crackdown on pro-terror protests, Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday.
Hizzoner addressed the cost to Big Apple taxpayers after cops were finally called in to help oust a destructive mob that had illegally taken over Columbia’s Hamilton Hall academic building late Tuesday and to clear out an encampment on the school’s iconic lawn.
“We believe that they, too, should contribute to the cost,” the mayor told FOX5 when asked whether the Ivy League school should have to open its checkbook in the wake of the massive operation.

HELP pay? How about they dig into their endowment and pay for it ALL. Plus penalties and interest.
BTTT
The students’ parents should pay as well.................
Not "should", MUST.
But these colleges are so poor. Some of them only have dozens of billions in the bank in cash. Why not have the taxpayer provide?
Force the “judges” to fine the pro-terrorists and the scumbag countries that send their crap to “school” here to infest the colleges and universities and learn communism from “Da Great Satan”.
How much is the Columbia endowment fund?
Wealthy alumni ?
Make them pay for all of it.
Why not make the protesters pay?
I WANT EVERY SINGLE PROTESTER TO BE PUT ON A PERMANENT LIST:
AVAILABLE TO ANYONE & EVERYONE-—PARTICULARLY POSSIBLE FUTURE EMPLOYERS & LANDLORDS.
THIS BEHAVIOR HAS TO HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES.
EVERY ONE OF THEM SHOULD SERVE JAIL TIME & BE FINED A MINIMUM OF $10,000-—PERHAPS MORE.
LOSS OF DIPLOMA & OTHER PUNISHMENT IS ALSO CALLED FOR.
My respect for Eric Adams has gone up a great deal in the past few days.
Of course, it was a pretty low bar, from less than zero to agreeing with maybe 1% of what he says and does. Still, for a far left-wing democrat hack he has some good points.
Hmmm. This is a confusing one. So CCNY should have acted sooner and been more firm and decisive with these protestor/agitators. No argument there.
But had they been firmer and acted sooner in calling in police, would they still be on the hook for the costs to round up the hooligans?
So what are the taxes that NY takes in to pay police for? To have them stand around and collect pensions? And any duties they have to perform are charged extra to a third party? Seems to me it costs the same to have them standing around as it does to have them actually working.
Now if they had to bring in off duty cops and pay overtime, then there is an argument that the college pay the extra costs, if the NYPD made it clear up front that they could have cleared things out sooner and with regular duty personnel had CCNY allowed it.
EVERY PERSON HERE FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY GETS DEPORTED-—PUT ON NO FLY LIST & PERMANENTLY DENIED ENTRY TO THE USA.
Muscle for the deep state
When its all resolved, the leftists can all go back to hating cops together
Columbia University’s endowment is well north of $10 billion. So, yeah. I think they could spare a few bucks to pay for ending a problem they themselves created.
Great idea. But they should pay it all.
The answer about paying is always “the taxpayers.”
We have to revolt and make it change.
Sheep get shorn and we have to refuse to pay.
Time to build a wall and staff a guard house.
Adams will take that money and give it his Illegals
The University allowed, encouraged this to happen.
If I live on 50 acres and intentionally set fire to it myself, I expect that I should have to reimburse the local fire departments once they come and put it out.
How about freezing the assets of all the financial backers of the protesters and suing them for damages?
