America's immigration nightmare: The economic and social fallout; The near-term impact is already bad, but the long-term impact will be disastrous

The April pronouncements of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell at Stanford University have sparked a crucial discourse about the ramifications of mass immigration on the American economy. Powell's observations emphasized the significant role of immigrants, particularly within lower-paying sectors of the labor market, prompting economists to hastily reconsider their projections. The forecasts presented by the Congressional Budget Office (C.B.O.) paint a stark panorama: an astounding 3.3 million individuals entered the United States in 2023 alone, with similar figures anticipated for 2024.

While some champion these statistics as heralds of economic expansion, the underlying reality is bleak. The majority of this influx comprises individuals entering the country unlawfully, imposing an undue strain on local communities and stretching public services to their limits.

What is particularly disconcerting is that much of this purported economic growth stems from illicit employment practices, perpetuating an underground economy riddled with exploitation and criminality.

Instead of acknowledging the harm wrought by unchecked immigration, policymakers and commentators persist in extolling its alleged benefits while turning a blind eye to its adverse impacts on American workers and communities.

Consider the predicament of New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams has beseeched for federal aid to manage the surge of illegal aliens. Such pleas merely skim the surface of the deeper issues arising from misguided immigration policies and porosity at the borders.

Furthermore, the discourse on mass immigration conveniently sidesteps the crucial question of assimilation and self-sufficiency. How swiftly can these newcomers integrate into American society and become productive contributors to the economy? The answer remains elusive, shrouded in wishful thinking and baseless optimism.

While proponents of mass immigration laud its role in propelling economic expansion, they ignore its stifling effect on innovation and sustained productivity. Enterprises drawn to low-cost labor are disinclined to invest in technology and automation

The die is cast. If anyone thinks we can deport the illegals, you’re not paying attention. The NGOs are lining up lawyers to fight their expulsion. The NGOs livelihood depends on the ‘newcomers’.

1900: Plenty of factory jobs for migrants. No welfare.
Today: No factory jobs for anyone. But there is welfare.

No way can that end well.

The author is a dolt.

It’s very close to 10 MILLION, with “got-aways” figured into the CPB count.

More than cut them off....prosecute them.

I think we will find though, the end of the money trail with these NGOs probably lands with China and other adversarial state actors who know full well the damage unchecked immigration is doing to us.

OUR kids had 12 years of school——learning A B C’s up to math problems. Most graduate HS at 17 or 18.

NONE of these “INVADERS” has 1/100th of the skills of the worst 12th grader in the USA.

Yep, things are going to get much worse in many ways.

Question is, how do each of us best deal with what’s coming?

“misguided immigration policies and porosity at the borders”

Ain’t nuthin’ misguided about it. They planned and executed a stone cold Invasion plan and it’s been spectacularly successful.

And the “porous” border? If by porosity you mean zero resistance, that’s what we’ve got. The BP was turned into a concierge operation for the benefit of the aliens, not a deterrent force.

Comical to read these words.

If I remember correctly, I believe it was the government of Poland that threw out all of the NGO’s from the country. They wanted no part of their meddling in governmental affairs.

Congress would do well to do a full scale investigation into the works of those agencies. It seems more and more they are at the forefront of every crisis, color revolution, etc, etc. They are no longer just “do gooder” organizations.

Further, our government is using these NGO’s to do a lot of their dirty work, i.e., organizing protests, importing immigrants, overthrowing governments, etc.

It may be a monumental task to investigate and DIVEST these agencies but it must happen, or we are simply funding our own demise.

Oversight committees can do this. It would be kind of like eating an elephant, but it can be done, one bite at a time.

The NGOs should be kicked out and until they leave they should be denied non-profit status.
