Bill Clinton Formulating Secret Plan to Defeat Bush & GOP in 2002
US News and World Report ^ | July 2, 2002 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 06/22/2002 11:04:36 AM PDT by codebreaker

Making the rounds at Democratic fundraisers, former President Clinton has begun to articluate a way for the loyal opposition to attack the popular President Bush in the fall elections.

It boils down to this: Terrorists win if they shake up Washington so much that the administration diverts money needed for critical domestic programs to the war.

And guess what? Clinton said Bush was doing just that.

If it sounds familiar, it is.

Clinton made the same charges in 1992 when he beat former President Bush, claiming that the then President was too much of a foreign policy leader and a zero at home.

He laid out his battle plan this week at a Senate Democratic fundraiser hosted by powerhouse Washington lawyer Weldon Latham.

The full whispers column for July and the full title of the column isn't out until later this afternoon this is his tease like Drudge does on Sunday nights.

This new strategy looks like 'Scare the old folks and students on loans' all over again. They are just securing the base, no one else with this..

I have missed discerning the Bush strategy of starving domestic programs. Maybe I have been asleep at the wheel.

I hope he and the Dems try this strategy. Then I hope the Repubs remind folks that if the terrorists are not stopped, there will be even MORE 9/11s and all those nice domestic programs will be worthless! AND I hope the Repubs. will remind folks who it was who was asleep at the switch and allowed bin Laden and Al Queda to flourish in the 90s, thus allowing 9/11 to occur!

..administration diverts money needed for critical domestic programs to the war.

It's more like guns and butter, actually. Fortunately for the Republicans, the "Balanced Budget/ tough medicine" Democratic voice is practically nonexistent these days. Not even Joe Lieberman qualifies anymore (if he ever did)

Someone should FORCE Clinton to answer exactly HOW does diverting money to the military ENHANCE the terrorist and cause them to win. Clinton still dosen't get it. He dosen't have a clue about their goals and reasons.

What Clinton has to realize is that George Bush Jr. has a wild card in his back pocket that even his father never had. I would not be surprised if Osama bin Laden's death or capture was announced two weeks before the 2004 election. Maybe we'll even see Donald Rumsfeld show off Osama's faded, dusty turban during one of his daily press conferences.

It's tough to beat a guy in poker when he puts five aces on the table.

Events will change the perspective on whatever such ploys BILLDO may have.

His era will also come out smelling like stinky farts from a skunk riding satan's mule. . . of course the timing could be interesting.

We should certainly be alert and make every effort to shoot such ploys down sooner than later.

I still say 1:1 persuasion of 3-4 people in our network who would otherwise vote democratic should be a high individual priority.

IF 60,000 of 80,000 FREEPERS did that, it could mean 180,000 votes for Republicans, at least conservatives that would have gone democraps. In strategic areas, that could make a chunk of a difference.

People are more likely to be persuated by someone they respect and like than they are by ads. Don't waste time on the chronic brain-dead democrap at all cost sorts of people. But fairminded habitually democrap voters there are. And they are vulnerable on a list of points. But they will take work to change. The country is worth it.

IF even one of the 3 REALLY SAW THE LIGHT and became similarly energized, the math could turn geometric. That would be a lot of impact.

LOL! I don't seem to recall any stingy cuts in domestic policy either. Maybe there is something to Dubya's strategy of outspending the liberals. I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait and see. He's fooled me before and he's fooled the dems before. I'd love to see him outslick Slick. :^)
