All Freepers and lurkers in good standing are invited to celebrate with us at the Free Republic Pre-Inaugural Dinner at the Washington Plaza Hotel, Wednesday, January 19, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
With all the traffic closures expected the next day, we figured it would be best to give folks a dry run on getting to the hotel for the ball the next night. Also, because so many of the ball attendees will be spending all day in town on Inauguration Day, we have decided to give them the chance to pre-position their evening attire at the hotel the night before so they won't have to make an extra trip on Thursday.
The dinner will be a great chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones.
You do not have to be attending the ball to come to this dinner. Also, if you do not want to have dinner, you are welcome to hang out in the hotel lounge and buy a drink or soda and socialize there.
The price for the dinner is $25 per person, tax, gratuity and drinks extra.
The prix fixe menu is:
Mixed Field Green Salad with Tomato, Carrot, Cucumber and Bell Pepper
Balsamic Vinaigrette and Buttermilk Ranch Traditional Caesar Salad with Garlic Croutons and Parmesan Reggiano, Signature Caesar Dressing
Teriyaki Beef and Asparagus Salad with Napa Cabbage and Sugar Peas
Assorted Dinner Rolls with Whipped Butter
Pecan Crusted Chicken Breast with a Caramelized Onion Demi Glace
Pan-Roasted Atlantic Salmon with a Dill Beurre Blanc
Roasted Garlic and Chive Mashed Potatoes
Sautéed Green Beans with Baby Carrots
Caramel Apple Crisp
German Chocolate Cake
We are ending the dinner at 10 p.m. so everyone can get a good night's sleep for the long day ahead.
Please note: We will also be making the final plans for the ball at the dinner.
And, the D.C. Chapter will be finalizing our plans for the American Sectors along the Inaugural Parade route.
The Washington Plaza Hotel

Sounds like we should list our cell phones except our posts are public.
No, I won't make it this time...[sadly...I was trying to find a way to make it]
RSVP times 3.
Count three of us in for the dinner--ponz7, henry and stanz.
Can't wait to be there!!!
yes...that's why I suggested freepmail.
Byootiful ... that'll save a lot of time! Thanks!
Add Jen and spouse for Wednesday night dinner.
How 'bout a hand signal ... like those Van Buren Boys ... is it possible to form an "FR" with two hands?!
I eat Parmesan Reggiano by the block! ;)
Will be staying till Sunday morning and hope we can get together over the weekend. Will give you a call early next week.
Should I wear my cowboy hat and stick a flag on top?! Except I'm rather short and have a visibility deficiency....people step/sit on me alot.....:/
My girlfriend and I are leaving Jersey at about 6pm on Weds night, so we won't be able to make the dinner. How are we going to find everyone at the parade and what time are we meeting? Should we start exchanging cell #s or does anyone else have a better, more orgnaized plan? I'm getting really exicted!
Forgot to say, maybe I could make it in time for that awesome German chocolate cake. Then again, I have to wear a dress the next day, nevermind........
What time are you gals heading on the Turnpike? My girlfriend and I will be leaving about 6pm-ish on Weds night. It's rather late, but I gotta get my kids (and husband) settled for the night prior to leaving. plus, I want to avoid traffic.
Bev, what time are you leaving and where are you staying? my mom isn't coming this time, it's only Fran and I, so we will hook up with you there.
This must be part of the Atkins diet.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you won't be there! (wah. sniff.) I'll have an adult beverage for you, though, if that's OK. What do you prefer? ;-)
As long as your OUR Eurotwit it's ok.
Hehehe ... nah ... part of the Italian Mama's Boy Diet? :)
Then surely there should be a piece of Italian bread drizzled with olive oil and garlic included with that cheese.
