JOE WILSON, HUSBAND OF THE UNMASKED CIA AGENT VALERIE PLAME,
SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN THREATS AGAINST HER 60 MINUTES SUNDAY
Fri Oct 28 2005 20:56:07 ET
Former CIA Colleagues say the Unmasking of Plame Could Cause Harm to Other Agents
Joe Wilson, whose wifes unmasking as a CIA agent is at the center of the special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgeralds investigation, said today that that his wife, Valerie Plame, has been threatened. Wilson talks to Ed Bradley in his first interview since Fitzgerald announced the indictment of I. Lewis Libby. It will be broadcast on 60 MINUTES Sunday Oct. 30 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
There have been specific threats [against Plame]. Beyond that I just cant go, Wilson tells Bradley. Wilson says he and his wife have discussed security for her with several agencies.
Former CIA colleagues say that by revealing her identity, harm could be caused to the CIAs agents and operations. If a CIA agent is exposed, then everyone coming in contact with that agent is exposed, says Jim Marcinkowski, a former CIA agent who trained with Plame at the top-secret Virginia facility known as the Farm. There is a possibility that there were other agents that would use that same kind of a cover. So they may have been using Brewster Jennings just like her, said Marcinkowski, referring to the fictional firm the CIA set up as her cover that also came out when journalists, including Robert Novak, disclosed it.
Marcinkowski also points out, [Plame] is the wife of an ambassador, for example. Now, since this happened
theyll know theres a possibility that the wife of a U.S. ambassador is a CIA agent.
Another friend, once a covert CIA operative, says people who say Plame wasnt in a sensitive position need to understand how intricate a cover story is, regardless of what an agent is working on. Cover is
for a clandestine officer, can be different things at different times. We change cover. We modify cover based on how we need it. But that cover is linked together, she tells Bradley. If you start to unravel one part of that, you can unravel the whole thing.
Rep. Rush Holt (D.-NJ), a former intelligence analyst and member of the House Intelligence Committee, agrees. I think any time the identity of a covert agent is released, there is some damage -- and its serious. Holt says its possible agents overseas could be arrested or even killed, but if there were, and Id been briefed on it, I couldnt talk about it, he tells Bradley. He did say he has been assured the CIA was mitigating the effects of the leak. They have taken the usual procedures to protect the damage from spreading.
Those procedures began the moment Valerie Plame learned her cover was blown. Upon finding out about the leak of her name, she felt like she'd been hit in the stomach. It took her breath away, said Wilson. Then she methodically went to work, he says, making lists of what she had to do to ensure that her assets, her projects, her programs and her operations were protected.
Wilson tells Bradley, contrary to reports that many knew Plame was in the CIA, that only he and three other people knew. Well, very few people outside the intelligence community [knew she was CIA]. Her parents and her brother, essentially, says Wilson.
Developing...
And we believe him because???????????????
Larry Johnson is a nut. His little cabal all have the same talking points I see. Johnson was on CNN with the Wolfman spouting off the threat business. That is the next step.
Wilson as victim. Hope it backfires.
The Plame/Wilson Cabal started all this.
Yeah Aldrich Ames did out her in 1994. Why is he so worried about her safety NOW. He couldn't be too concerned if the FBI is out talking to neighbors AND THEY are talking to t he msm. What a crock of S
Yeah the blowback into the CIA's faces does need to be cleaned off. Better yet fire the America haters. that should help.
Speaking of pimps ...

John Kerry Outed Undercover CIA Agent
Sen. John Kerry, who called for Karl Rove to be fired over allegations that he revealed the identity of CIA employee Valerie Plame, outed a genuine undercover CIA agent just this past April - even after the agency asked that his identity be kept secret.
Kerry blew the cover of CIA secret operative Fulton Armstrong during confirmation hearings for U.N. ambassador nominee John Bolton.
(snip)
My contention is that these reporters were all calling about the same time with the same MO...a different subject with something about Wilson stuck in non-chalantly at the end. Libby must have thought "What the hell is going on?" and told them ALL BASICALLY: "go to hell" with HIS "source" info. It's none of YOUR GD business.
Let's refer to Valerie as "The Spy in Room 225". That would be where she outed herself to Joe on their third date".
The room number is the Code. 2 + 2 = 5 OR "Something doesn't add up".
Then she methodically went to work, he says, making lists of what she had to do to ensure that her assets, her projects, her programs and her operations were protected.
So she waited until her "cover was blown" to do this". Sounds like she wasn't a very good CIA agent to me.
In the January 2004 Vanity Fair article,it says that Valerie Wilson is in the process of moving from non-official to official status at State Dept.cover during the spring of 2003.
She moved back to the U.S.June 1997.
The above dates put her in the U.S.for more than 5 years,so the 1982 law would not apply.
Perhaps she wanted to go back to being "covert"during the spring of 2003.
There is only one person responsible for this failure...the last U.S.diplomat to meet with Saddam...good ole Joe Wilson.
Joe Wilson is a documented liar. So why would anyone believe him this time?
Did Fitz say lovely Val acted upon them, that she *did* anything methodically or unmethodically as the case may be? Or was it all about her "lists".
Victoria Toensing. A very tough and smart cookie, asis her husband, Joe DiGenova.
This one needs to be pursued big time. A faction in the CIA has gone rogue.
So I guess all of those people who have said it was "common knowledge", (not to mention all of those people who saw her drive in and out of Langley everyday), are lying. Ok. Makes sense. Whatever you say Joe the clown...since you're sooooo credible and always tell the truth. (/sarcasm)
Whatever!!! This clown has no credibility and I don't believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Maybe they should have thought about her "security" before posing for the COVER of Vanity Fair magazine...or allowing their photo to appear in the social pages...or putting their names in "Who's Who"...
There are many fires in ashtrays. Almost no houses burn down. Traitor Agee's was a fire. The persecution of Mr. Libby is a smoldering Camel (or Gaulois) cigarete in the lobby of some CIA-favored Ritz.
I know this is trite, and I can't help it; but I was becoming crossed-eyed as was visually locked into that bump between Fitzgerald's eyes...thinking was that a zit or what is that thing? The guy has to appear before millions and he gets a zit the size of a gum ball. I tried to shift my eyes away several times; but just like drawn in by a magnet, they kept going back to that "bump".
For one thing should be fired and for another I can't understand why her and Wilson aren't investigated for attempting to derail the foreign policy of the US. Let's get all this garbage out in the open.
".....it appears Plame was first outed to the general public as a result of a consciously loaded and slyly hypothetical piece by the journalist David Corn. Corn's source appears to have been none other than Plame's own husband, former ambassador and current Democratic-party operative Joseph Wilson that same pillar of national security rectitude whose notion of discretion, upon being dispatched by the CIA for a sensitive mission to Niger, was to write a highly public op-ed about his trip in the New York Times. This isn't news to the media; they have simply chosen not to report it.
The hypocrisy, though, only starts there. It turns out that the media believe Plame was outed long before either Novak or Corn took pen to paper. And not by an ambiguous confirmation from Rove or a nod-and-a-wink from Ambassador Hubby. No, the media think Plame was previously compromised by a disclosure from the intelligence community itself although it may be questionable whether there was anything of her covert status left to salvage at that point, for reasons that will become clear momentarily.
This CIA disclosure, moreover, is said to have been made not to Americans at large but to Fidel Castro's anti-American regime in Cuba, whose palpable incentive would have been to "compromise[] every operation, every relationship, every network with which [Plame] had been associated in her entire career" to borrow from the diatribe in which Wilson risibly compared his wife's straits to the national security catastrophes wrought by Aldrich Ames and Kim Philby."
