Generic Polls: Republicans Closing in On Democrats
Polling Report.Com ^ | Aug/21/2006 | Joseph Gestetner

No, Republicans are not in the lead; however two new polls show that the Democrats lost their 12-18 point lead for control of Congress. Now, the Democrats are "only" nine points ahead of the Republicans.

(Review all the recent polls at Polling Report.com).

What is the accuracy of these generic polls in elections past, as opposed to individual state polls?

Rush had some kind of a poll...I forget the details, but basically the poll showed that people are not paying attention to politics right now. Rush said he thinks polls this early are worthless. Remember the 'Republicans have peaked polls of 1994?

"What is the accuracy of these generic polls in elections past, as opposed to individual state Polls?"

The accuracy is: If Democrats lead by 5-8 points, Republicans have a good chance to win, as was in 2004.

Rush stated today 68% of the people polled have paid "little or NO attention to the election or any candidate.". This ,even this good news at this point, is all GARBAGE!

Check out that poll for the 2004 Congressional election. It proves your point; look at the lead the Dems had even close to the election. That they're down to 9 points in August must be making them shake in their boots.

I just checked a few sites that trumpeted "gloomy prediction for GOP in November" stories not long ago--funny, none of them are posting THIS story...

Gas prices are dropping. If they are below $2.00/gallon in Novemebr, the Democrats are screwed.

Iraq was only a "mistake" because gas prices went up (How Joe voter REALLY thinks)

Thank you for going back to the 2004 stats.

I wrote you my response because I saw that stats 18 months ago. However, there is a difference because Bush was than on the Ballot, 11 states had moral ballot questions, etc. What will be the motivator for Republicans this time around. The base is turned off because of the notion that the Republicans are cooked.

Maybe they are.

Who cares who wins? We would be better off (as conservatives) if the Dims won the house or the senate. Maybe that way, we would have gridlock, and a LOT less money would be spent on so much BS thanks to the rubber-stamp spending going on with all these so-called conservatives in charge. I was thinking about voting Dim this time just for that reason. Gridlock is GOOD! When the government can't get anything done, it is good for the people. Anyway, as to the "Who cares who wins?" thing, I honestly don't think there is any such thing as a truly conservative career politician. They are all libs. They all need more money, more programs, bigger bureaucracy, more power, etc... Oh, and none of the Republicans seem to care what we (their base) want or need. The border, less spending, smaller government, all just unimportant stuff that they will only acknowledge when the polls are getting ready to open, if at all.

AR: You are so pathetic. Why do you bother to get up in the morning? You must have absolutely no joy in life. Things are just not perfect enough for you.

Why don't you just go jump off a bridge now. Life is not worth living.

Grid lock??? Our president would just sign the huge pork projects hoping to win Democrat friends, his attempted bribes won't work, and the Dims will have us retreat from the world, allow huge Terrorist victories and probably do a worse job with the southern border (if that is possible).

Iowa Electronic Markets show the bounce - and they are unemotional -- a money driven indicator.
