CHEYENNE--During Al Simpson's nearly 50 years in government, he hasn't been afraid to take on critics and naysayers of his work in the U.S. Senate or on a variety of high-profile commissions and committees.
But as the co-chair of President Obama's debt commission, the Wyoming Republican said he's been taking an unprecedented amount of flak for the commission's draft proposals to help erase the nation's $13.8 trillion debt.
"I've never had any nastier mail or [been in a] more difficult position in my life," said the 79-year-old Simpson. "Just vicious. People I've known, relatives [saying], "'You son of a bitch. How could you do this?'"

He never said seniors are the greediest. Go back and read the article. He said everyone is greedy and wants cuts in gov’t except the ones that affect them.

I would be willing to bet that his “service” on this debt commission will last three years, and will spike his retirement. His last three years will be compensated with a drastic uptick in his bottom line....THAT is how the govt works, and government workers know how to work the system.

I agree with you; 100% correct. A lot of them seem to think that by virtue of reaching a certain age they are entitled to everything they want, and they are rude.
I tell my kids to respect their elders, but I also tell them them that respect has to be earned. And it just doesn’t jive after what we have seen in some of the “elders”.
Simpson is really good with his phony folksy heartland schtick but he is a fraud. My guess is they figured he was not so bad. Simpson got more liberal towards the end. Now he will prostitute himself out to the Dems for probably special favors for friends and family.
He has one or two pensions (fed and states as one person pointed out) plus he has gold plated health care.
I have not read anything by the fraudulent Obama commission but I would bet not a single word was mentioned about illegal aliens. I read something about Florida Medicaid costs. The FL politicians reviewing things never mentioned illegals. It is like they are invisible except when you want to cut off anything to these invaders.

I seem to remember hearing several years ago that it's harder to lie to someone when they can't see the liar. If that's true, then leftist radio would never have been successful, regardless of the existence of TV.
So now its “greed” to have been coerced into paying SS and MEDICARE taxes for decades under the inducement it was part of a national retirement safety net.... and expecting the safety net to be there when you hit 65?
For many folks, kinda hard to go out and find a new job with private health bennies and start saving all over again for retirement when the rules change .... just as you hit your 60’s. Be gentle to those gray heads at the fast food registers and Walmart greeters. Panic by old folks is not greed. It’s just..panic. At very limited alternative options at a certain point in life..
When people buy private insurance (especially if they were forced by the IRS to pay premiums) are they “greedy” when they or their survivors file a claim? Inquiring minds want to know.
And anyway- who’s paying Alan Simpson’s retirement pay and health insurance?
We get older - we get more frightened. Sadly we revert to being more like children again. The Dems know this and constantly tap into that fear. It is sad but it shows how evil the Dems are.
Obama and the Dems will give illegals anything and everything plus union goons. Seniors will starve before illegals go hungry.
