Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has overtaken Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) nationally for second place in the GOP primary field, according to a Kaplan Strategies poll.

The poll, published on Monday, shows that 48 percent of GOP primary voters back Trump as he continues to dominate the field. Ramaswamy sits alone in second place with eleven percent, while DeSantis follows with ten percent:

2024 National Republican Primary:

Trump 48% (+37)

Trump’s support is unchanged since Kaplan Strategies’ poll published in July, whereas DeSantis is down two points from when he and Ramaswamy were tied at twelve percent. The pair have been trending in opposite directions over the past few months, with Ramaswamy climbing and DeSantis sliding.

Former Vice President Mike Pence is on DeSantis’s heels with eight percent after doubling his support since the poll that was taken from July 17-18. From there, former Govs. Nikki Haley (R-SC) and Chris Christie (R-NJ) tie at four percent. Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is down three points from July, garnering two percent in this poll, followed by Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) with one percent.

Kaplan strategies sampled 800 registered likely GOP primary voters from August 9-10, and the margin of error (MOE) is ± 3.5 percentage points.

We're giving Joe Biden 4 more years on the house just like that.

We’ll also be giving him the House, Senate, and two conservative SCOTUS justices in their mid 70s.

Trump said we’d get tired of winning. We did.

No surprise here as DeSantis decided to join the Trump-haters in the field, thus giving away his strong second place position...to just another political dwarf running, whereas Vivek seems to understand that Trump VOTERS will still be around, regardless what our 3rd World Administration does to Trump and they DO NOT APPRECIATE other Republicans, DeSantis included, not just unwilling to stand up for Trump, but also unwilling to stand up for what had been AMERICAN VALUES.

two conservative SCOTUS justices in their mid 70s.

If Gavin Newsom gets elected in '28, that will likely be the end of America. The SCOTUS will give the POTUS a "blank check" to do whatever he wants, think of the US under Justin Trudeau, that's what it is going to be like.

In retrospect, it may have been better for us to lose in '16, then we'll regroup in '20 and '24 with other candidates like Cruz, Rubio, DeSantis. None of them are perfect, obviously. But they're less likely to make fatal mistakes that Trump is making right now, just my $.02

People on FR are free to attack whomever they want. DeSantis is just another candidate like, Haley, Scott, Christie etc. People attack Trump here daily.

All this is what happens every time there are primaries coming up. It is just the way it is.

The communists are shrewd and disciplined. Our voters are emotional and foolish.

Now is probably the time for some of the leading Republicans to go on the trail with DeSantis but they're afraid of Trump's wrath. But the thing is that, if Trump is on the ballot, everyone is going to pay anyway.

>> No, [America] isn’t [a Christian nation]. At least not any more.

It’s not about infamous “Pew Polls” that declare that the population of America is no longer majority church-going Christian.

America was founded — deeply rooted — in Judeo-Christian principles. Its founding fathers and their ancestors covenanted with Jehovah GOD to trust in Him and be His ambassadors to spread the gospel of CHRIST throughout the nation, and the world. Thirteen American presidents spoke of America as a “shining city on a hill” quoting Jesus in Matthew 5:14. It’s a nation of ideology — Christian ideology — unlike other Western nations rooted not in ideology but in monarchy.

It’s in that sense that America always has been, is still, and always will be a Christian nation. I believe in my heart that a Third Great Awakening (or Fourth, depending on how you count) is in our near future — that will take care of the low Pew-polling. ;-)

>> Would you rather have a secularized Hindu who is an honest person or the child molesting, lying, senile, pervert supporting, but “Devoutly Catholic” Joe Shitbag Biden? Better a righteous pagan than an apostate.

Admittedly a tough call. And to be fair, you should admit that while Joe Shitbag Biden definitely lives up to your unflattering description of his evil, Vivek Ramaswathy has not yet lived up to your favorable description. (In my opinion.)

Fortunately we’re still in the primary season, so it’s not a call that need be made at the moment. If it comes down to the hypothetical choice you posit, in the absence of direction from the Holy Spirit to the contrary, I would vote for Vivek over Jao Beidin.

Good, honest questions. Thank you, and FRegards

There is nothing that would give anyone any reason to think Desantis could win a national election.

Nothing at all.

That is exactly our Gop nightmare future in 24.
Trump has lost the last five election cycles and headed for big loss in 24 .
And his trusted Crooked Brain Dead Ronna Romney will help
make that a reality. Well she has 6 election cycles losses now thanks to WI Supreme court massacre. Together they will be a sad reality in 24 .

Soros must really be pumping the money into Vivek’s campaign. Soros doesn’t want to lose his access to the White House that Vivek will give him.

I think some Freepers need to pay closer attention to what Vivek is saying and his policy positions (which are pretty much 100% in alignment with what we all care about), and stop the unfounded attacks on the guy.

IF Trump is blocked (and it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be, with 4 BS “indictments” now), Vivek may very well be the best option we have.

RDS is boring. VERY boring. No personality. No charisma. No charm. No ability to answer questions fluently and on the fly. And like it or not, that matters a great deal. And don’t get me started on his mannerisms..a smart, enterprising entrepreneur could make MILLIONS overnight if they came out with a bobble-head doll of the guy.

Compare RDS’s public “performance” against Vivek’s, who exhibits “master politician” skills and answers every question with clarity and eloquence, even though he’s never held elective office. Absolutely no contest between the two.

I’m on team Vivek at this point. Voted for Trump twice, but I don’t see him being ABLE to run, as the Dems are gonna bury him under lawfare. And our totally worthless R party ain’t gonna do DIDDLY to help him, although there are plenty of ways to do so IF they cared (they don’t, and actually are on the same side as the Dems in stopping him).

That leaves Vivek or RDS. RDS is gonna bore the snot out of people, who are SO tired of politicians in general. Vivek will inspire people with clear vision and the fact (like Trump) that he’s NOT a politician. Plus, he’ll pull way more young voters than RDS.

Just wait until after the debates. Vivek is going to do very well and will shoot up even further (way further) in the polls with the increased exposure. RDS will be lucky to emerge in one piece, as Trump will have him for lunch.

And he’s already addressed all the dumb rumors (WEF, etc) that you guys seem stuck on.

Just keepin’ it real..
