Top Republican pollster Frank Luntz and Ron DeSantis warned that the low GOP turnout in the Iowa caucuses is a red flag for the party and that if Donald Trump doesn't get 'new voters' then he will lose in the November election.
'Trump is going to have to show that he can get people who didn't vote for him in 2020, he's got to get new voters or he loses,' Luntz told DailyMail.com
'It's a warning sign for the party in November because the turnout was so abysmally low,' the Florida governor said on Friday. 'There's terrible enthusiasm right now.'
Trump's rallies and events are consistently standing room only.

The primaries need to be closed, to members of the party only. New Hampshire is going to be interesting next week, open to independents. With all the build up for Haley, I truly would not be surprised if she came in first, ahead of Trump. Maybe DeSantis sitting out to allow that to occur. Trump clearly has realized the risk is now ceaselessly trashing Haley. Too little, Too late?
The big challenges that Trump has got to bring people back to him, which means no more name-calling, no more bullying, no more claims of disloyalty, otherwise, why would anyone want to vote for him after being disrespected in the way that’s been occurring? If only the core Trump vote for him, other stay home, he will lose. He has likely not added a single vote the cycle. All he has done is keep his core base firm.
Even if a few people looking on cell phones found out Iowa was called, most people were already there, and were going to put in their vote.
If desantis supporters left before voting, then they weren't dedicated desantis supporters
the thing desantis doesn't say is
Iowa has 40 delegates, allocated in proportion to the final vote
so the more votes desantis got, even if he didn't win the caucus, the more delegates he got.
They just are planting the lie now, so when they disappear just enough of the Repub votes for the demons to win. /s
Luntz is a low class slob. Trump’s words, not mine.
You were let back in? Wow....
And it was election fraud that caused Trump to lose the 2020 election, not the lack of appeal to independents.
Trump becoming marvin milktoast “to appeal to independents” will not win the general election.
Since the Regime is trying to use 91 bogus indictments to get Trump off the ballot, I’d say they don’t think Trump is going to have low turnout.
Yes, wind hill -25 to -30 range on caucus day in Iowa.
Since it’s a Caucus, discount the win.
Turnout was down by 10’s of thousands. How much was weather and how much was enthusiasm is unknown.
Tuesday’s turnout may be a better barometer.
******************
Actually, Super Tuesday will be the barometer. Until March 5th, not many delegates are in play.
Trump will win a bunch of delegates in “winner take all” primaries & caucuses on that day, relegating the scrubs into irrelevancy and putting the 45th President in the “catbird seat.”
McCarthy buddy is so bushite.
The “news” media called the race for Trump almost as soon as the caucus started. This was done to discourage people from voting, so that later on, the critics could say “Uh oh, Trump is in trouble. Look at the depressed turnout in Iowa!”
Quite an enthusiastic crowd.
Governor Reynolds was a strong backer of RDS. Key suburban precincts, like my own, were conducted by Reynolds loyalists.
The promptness and time limitations were written and well known, but there is apparently video of caucuses doing no business or listening to lengthy harangues for a half-hour after 7 pm start while others finished voting as instructed.
There was a blizzard. The media was warning people not to go out at all! Each time the caucuses were mentioned they included a warning about the weather (I believe in an effort to reduce turnout).

The Iowa caucuses are the coldest ever. These graphics show just how brutally cold it is

CNN — Iowa has held the Republican caucuses every four years since 1976 in either January or February, putting them at risk for cold, but nothing like what happened Monday.
So, you think he can win with even the 71 million last time? No need for independents, disaffected Trump supporters (like me)? No way, be honest, if he wins the nomination and goes to the polls in November with just his core, even Biden might win. Imagine if they swap out for Newsom?
There's some truth in that. I say there's 10% chance that Trump will win.
Biden has two Trump cards left. Abortion. And mail in ballots.
It had nothing to do with the cold or the peanut gallery losers like Nimrata or Meatball.
Trump’s turnout was not low. It was much better than 2016.
“he’s got to get new voters or he loses,’”
There is also the cheating element so Trump has to have enough votes to cover the amount of fraud. You are right that Trump needs new voters. However, I think he will get them from the black and hispanic communities. There will also be the GOP voters who swear they will never vote for Trump but, when in the privacy of the voting booth, will vote for him anyway. There will be a few democrat voters who will do so as well. People vote their best economic interest regardless of what they tell pollsters.
Luntz……….LOL, LOL, LOL
