WASHINGTON — The Biden administration will take a historic step toward easing federal restrictions on cannabis, with plans to announce an interim rule soon reclassifying the drug for the first time since the Controlled Substances Act was enacted more than 50 years ago, four sources with knowledge of the decision said.

The Drug Enforcement Administration is expected to approve an opinion by the Department of Health and Human Services that marijuana should be reclassified from the strictest Schedule I to the less stringent Schedule III. It would be the first time that the U.S. government has acknowledged its potential medical benefits and begun studying them in earnest. [...]

There’s a symbiotic relation between the left and marijuana. The lazy and stupid are attracted to it, and then it almost makes the users more lazy and stupid.

I can understand why awful people want to use it and think it ‘improves’ anything, but there’s been no studies at all that show anyone benefits from it, not even those that ‘beleive in it’ anymore than Jonestown people ‘believed’ their cult helped them.

Needs to be hard banned with a DP penalty.

Big pharma and incarceration nation are the prohibitionists for the fifth time. The trillions they make are in part by selling weed alternatives. They have virtual zero presence in the cannabis market.

Weed is not addictive.

Singapore and Indonesia have plenty of drugs for the wealthy-it is only the poor people that get disappeared.

What it doesn’t do is create delusions and idiotic projections.

Three sanctuary states while Hawaii has among the biggest homelessness problems and is not drug friendly.

Weed is probably the most psychologically addictive substance known.

People get on it, and it’s off to the races. It creates paranoia and schizophrenic projections. That’s a fact.

If you side with weed, then great. But don’t talk to me, loser.

I cordially invite you to WV and KY the two OD death per capita leaders in the nation and hardly leaders in the drug legalization movement.

If prohibition is so righteous, how do we end up with SF is SF because of legal weed?

Hawaii has immense homelessness problem and is not a weed state.

It’s clear you know very little about it. I don’t think you’re qualified to offer an informed opinion.

It’s not hard to learn how to research a topic. There is an incredible amount of available information about cannabis. Do your homework then come back when you have some credibility on the topic.

Jesus CHRIST. Give it some time to come apparent in those places. WV and KY aren’t exactly places to celebrate, and the gateway effect of pot leads them to meth and heroin.

Give it up drug pusher, please.

Get real. If it’s not addictive give it up without a second though. You won’t be able to, you’re addicted to it. You proteolyze it.

You’re siding with the left and Biden to legalize it. You’re proud of that I know.. Because deep down all weed heads are leftwing democrats.

My sis in law deals with addicts for 30yrs and I used to think just like the prohibition crowd-

full of emotive BS largely devoid of actual facts.

these threads are always routs by the potheads-that doesn’t make sense.

The state should not be dealing recreational drugs, it should’ve been decriminalized in lieu of that the idea of spending $50K/yr and up caging potheads is ridiculous.

the prohibition crowd has 50yrs of material-

produce some of it-tell us what 50yrs of of arresting potheads accomplished exactly?

I feel sorry for whoever has to deal with you, much less smell you.

Stop pushing illicit and destructive drugs please. You’re no better than the 50’s doctor saying ‘9/10 doctors say Camels are healthy’.

state licensed weed is not loaded with toxic pesticides-

the potheads send it to labs themselves.

but apparently illegal weed is now being laced with fentanyl.

Why is it so hard to post actual perils instead of as per usual page after page after page of wrong, emotive BS and or nonsense?

Well, not everyone agrees with the way it has been done, or the model of the "war on drugs." But the U.S. has failed stopping a lot of crime in that time, should the fight against all crime be given up?

The same time the term "war on drugs" started, the "war on cancer" was also coined by Nixon. That wasn't a success either.

Wasn’t spreading legal use supposed to reduce black market and make it ‘safer’. It’s still destructive as hell mentally and physically, but maybe no lethal.

But.. What’s happened? More gateway drugs added to it to chase that high. Don’t try to get high, and you probably won’t OD on fent or whatever.

Nobody has any self control anymore to avoid drugs for an easy high, that’s a big symptom of the fall of western society.

And you think that’s a good thing to make it easier to do.

‘War on x’ has always failed. It’s taken, I think, from the concept that total war can totally defeat something. It can’t, especially when it comes to criminal and destructive human nature.

There is a solution to the drug problem. Singapore has it. Very low use rates and violations. It’ll end up having to be done here when the non-weed users get sick of the weed users.

It is not addictive at all unlike chewing tobacco which is 24 times more addictive than heroin.

off to the races!!! They get on it and are now responsible for all mental illness on earth.

You are a silly, silly pothead. Good luck to your biden/left agenda my man, you almost got it. Just jail Trump and get your hero Biden that loves weed to stay in power.

Or, you could stop abusing weed and wake up and be a normal person.

state licensed weed is not loaded with toxic pesticides-

Sorry, you are wrong. I remember looking in the news is many states. I live in CA. The vast majority of marijuana is still "illegal." And it goes both ways, legal growers sell illegally into the legal market. But if the vast majority is still illegal, do people know what they are getting. In CA, and I am sure other states, more national and state parks then ever have illegal pot plantations that use the most dangerous pesticides. Maybe you know where to buy organic pesticides, but most people don't. the potheads send it to labs themselves.

What does that mean?

The fentanyl being mixed in is a more recent development.

If it isn’t addictive, then why are there so many people who can’t stop? Even longtime potheads like Brian Posehn and Miley Cyrus said that?

It’s a laughable gaslighting that potheads use to say x will be ‘safer’. All they care about is getting high off it. The legality of it or not only bothers them because they’d have spent prison time where it’s harder to use it.

That’s it! They just want to use, abuse, and that’s it. All this economics and worrying about this or that is all nonsense. It’s about always being easily able to get high.

They know it, we know it, and the democrats know that to use for votes.
