In my experience blacks are poor swimmers. Not a sport they enjoy. The things that make them excellent sprinters and jumpers make them poor swimmers, as a group.
The coach of this year’s US men’s Olympic swim team is a black guy named Anthony Nesty a gold medal winner fr Trinidad Tobago.
It’s confusing to me too.
That idea may have begun because in past times, Black people who grew up in urban areas didn’t have a lot of opportunity to swim; but now they do and lots of them enjoy it and swim well.
There’s a similar old canard about Blacks disliking dogs. Some of the most avid dog breeders and dog-show participants that I know now are Black.
