Jimmy Carter ‘enjoying peanut butter ice cream’ in hospice care, ally says

Former President Jimmy Carter hasn’t seen any “significant change” in his health, despite his grandson warning again this week that the 99-year-old’s life was “coming to the end,” according to the director of the former commander in chief’s namesake nonprofit organization.

Carter remains “at home, enjoying peanut butter ice cream and getting the food he wants any time he wants it,” Carter Center CEO Paige Alexander told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Politically Georgia podcast Wednesday.

“It’s 15 months of hospice at this point, and he is fully retired,” Alexander explained. “There really hasn’t been a significant change. I mean, he will always be one bad cold away from the end.

“He is in hospice care, and there are palliative measures if he’s in pain, but nothing else.”

I saw some photos of President Carter in a wheelchair to attend Rosalyn’s funeral. He looked like a very sick ghost. Hard to believe he is still alive.
Agreed he is a good man-and a terrible President. Letting Iran switch to an Islamic state is one of biggest errors in modern world history.

”…… carrying his own luggage……

I thought we later learned that the luggage he carried (to seem like a regular Joe) turned out to be empty!

You’ve made a classy comment. Too bad some others here don’t have that in them.

He was not a particularly good president as far as presidents go, and his presidential failures are a long list—

He became president at a difficult time, and was not up to the task.

The Camp David Accords might be considered his greatest achievement.

He also invited Lech Walesa to the White House, at a time when Communist Poland was trying to crush Solidarity. That simply gesture helped give Solidarity much needed cred and moral support.

I remember this goof for long gas lines, remarkably high inflation and interest rates, the abandonment of Iran, the Department of Education, amnesty for draft dodgers (his first official act), high unemployment.

In addition I remember him and his assistant Andy Young as being viciously anti-Israel and an obstacle to peace in the Middle East.

Also it is fortunate that he admitted to "conscupience" (strong sexual desire) back during the 1976 election campaign. This was in the early years of the sexual revolution and was possibly done to make him appear human for that era. If he admitted that now, the feminists would declare him a rapist.

We come in the world with sweet dairy (breastmilk is very sweet and tastes like melted ice cream—I’ve tasted my own out of curiosity); we go out of the world with sweet dairy. And sometimes in diapers too.

I heard a saying: Once a man, twice a child.

I don't. I remember Carter trying to steer a middle course, which led to the Camp David Accords.

I suppose some Israel supporters were upset at Carter because he tried to get both sides to compromise, instead of agreeing with 100% of what Israel wanted.

In the end, Carter bribed both Israel and Egypt into signing the Camp David Accords, which I'm not happy about. Not because it helped or hurt Israel or Egypt, but because it's cost us money to this day.

Yet that might be considered his greatest achievement.

(Elected by the majority of electors, 297 to 240).

Yes, I blame voters.
As my dear Father said,
“people can’t expect to get governments better than they are themselves....”

That the whole day may be perfect, holy, peaceful, and sinless, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

An angel of peace, a faithful guide, a guardian of our souls and bodies, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

Pardon and remission of our sins and transgressions, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

All things good and profitable for the souls and peace for the world, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

That we may complete the remaining time of our life in peace and repentence, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

A Christian ending to our life, painless, blameless, peaceful; and a good defense before the dread Judgement Seat of Christ, let us ask of the Lord.

Grant this, O Lord.

The Tragic End To President Jimmy Carter’s Family Peanut Business

I have looked for that statement, that he said he was allergic to peanuts, could not find a referrence to it. I remember it, but if it was a joke, I did not get it at the time.

Jimmy is a decent guy, but was a feckless President. His sanctimony led him down a path that was very harmful for the America and the West. His betrayal of the Shah of Iran, and his acquiescence to the Islamic nutjobs that took over afterward were the seeds of what the Middle East is today. Jimmy’s tireless efforts of public redemption paid off to a certain extent, but the disaster of his presidency continues.

Thank you. He was pretty prepared. He was 80 and starting his third decade with Parkinsons. My husband heard his final words the day before he died and I was with him 2 days before he died and the day he died.

He was a Marine pilot in Vietnam and so now I stop by and freshen up the flowers and the little flag every few months at the military cemetery.
