Bill Clinton Formulating Secret Plan to Defeat Bush & GOP in 2002
US News and World Report ^ | July 2, 2002 | Paul Bedard

Making the rounds at Democratic fundraisers, former President Clinton has begun to articluate a way for the loyal opposition to attack the popular President Bush in the fall elections.

It boils down to this: Terrorists win if they shake up Washington so much that the administration diverts money needed for critical domestic programs to the war.

And guess what? Clinton said Bush was doing just that.

If it sounds familiar, it is.

Clinton made the same charges in 1992 when he beat former President Bush, claiming that the then President was too much of a foreign policy leader and a zero at home.

He laid out his battle plan this week at a Senate Democratic fundraiser hosted by powerhouse Washington lawyer Weldon Latham.

I hope Clinton is Successful. George Bush is more Clinton that Clinton.

We know you hope so that way more Democrat legislation with McCain's name gets through.

McCain-Liberman, gun control

McCain-Bingamin, having the Fed's pay for illegal immigrants healthcare

McCain-Feingold Part 2 (to be announced), more restricitons on free speech

When are McCain-Kennedy and McCain-Hillary bills coming out?

I am with you on that one. I have thought for quite a few months that OBL was in a freezer in Cheney's cave. I quite like this idea, myself.

Bubba is forgetting that there was no 9-11 on Daddy Bush's watch, therefore, it was easier to fall for his line of bull (at least for certain weak-minded individuals). I doubt that the American people will be willing to trade their safety for funding the construction of a community center for aging homosexuals.

True, except the guy who has five aces better hope the guy he duped and cheated doesn't have his own ace, or .357, in the hole.

I hope the Repubs. will remind folks who it was who was asleep at the switch and allowed bin Laden and Al Queda to flourish in the 90s, thus allowing 9/11 to occur!

I wish they would, but it's not gonna happen. As always, the Republicans are so concerned with looking like the nice guys that they get their butts handed to them by the ruthless Dems. Have you seen today's thread on the story about Bush being warned by Dems not to pursue anything on either Clinton? As long as this kind of game-playing goes on, there will never be meaningful change in Washington no matter who's in power. What should've happened with a meeting like that is the White House tapes showing such threats should've been broadcast on C-SPAN and Fox, after which the other media would have been forced to keep up and air them too. Some radical move like that by someone unwilling to play games is the only thing that's ever going to shake up the power structure in this country. And unfortunately, as it currently stands it's impossible to make it to the White House without being a player. Game over.

I didn't see Bill chafe when Hill claimed Billions and Billions for NYC following 911 and state "she" would hold Bush's feet to the fire for the money.

That's an excellent point. And don't forgot, even Chelsea was worried about domestic spending as she watched the Towers fall, thinking that maybe Bush's tax cut hadn't left enough money for NYC.

...yawn... straight from the same sh*t, different day handbook of democrat strategery. Just a frustrating situation, that's all. We should have drove the stake in when the bas*ard was napping. Unfortunately, Trent Lott is terrified of vampires.

I don't believe his message will resonate in 2002 while the memory of 9-11 is still fresh. In 2004, enough time may have passed that such an argument could gain traction. The public threw Bush's dad overboard even though his prosecution of the Gulf War was brilliant in every regard with the possible exception of not moving into Iraq and overthrowing Saddam.

Bush's curse was that the war turned out to be too easy and America was too quick to forget it.

It's actually in W's best political interests to prolong this war into 2004.

Gosh I thought those on this board keep talking about how the President is spending so much money on the leftist agenda. Now X41 says it isn't so.... hmmmmm. Maybe they should get their talking points in sinc.

The neat thing about starving is that people get desparate - perhaps enough so that they may decide to work. :^)

Well, Billdo Flabboy doesn't have a reputation for fighting in his own fight, and it's improbable he's up to the task now.
