Dairy farmers can't catch a break from EPA
Across the Back Fence ^ | 02/05/2011 | Todd Fitchette

At the same time the US EPA is causing food prices around the globe to skyrocket as a result of policies to use corn as a fuel additive instead of an international food staple, one of the victims of the federal agency is in the cross hairs because of — what else — the food they create!

US dairy farmers are now being tasked to construct hazardous materials containment facilities and create disaster preparedness plans equivalent to those required by refineries and companies that store bulk hazardous materials.

We have dairy, potato, wheat, corn, beef, chicken and other farmers targeted by this administration. What are our farmers to feed or grow?

Its all about dismembering and disemboweling America.

What are the people going to eat?
At what price?
Just arugula?
K, ~ arugula and weed.

Then we can have chaos and crazy riots!

Obastard’s minions are out of control and their power must be reigned in.

A letter to your senators and representatives:

Dear _______________, it has become increasingly obvious that the president intends to use the power of the MANY governmental agencies to bypass the will of the people and Congress. For that reason, it is imperative for Congress to reclaim the power it has abdicated to the executive branch. I propose a simple amendment that be put in EVERY bill voted on by Congress until it passes. The wording is as similar to the following:

“No government agency, organization, or entity created by Congress in the past or future shall have legislative or judicial powers. For the purpose of this amendment, “legislative power” shall be construed to mean the making of any rule violation of which renders a citizen, legal entity, corporation, or company of any state or the United States to imprisonment, fine, excessive or punitive fee, or other punishment. “Judicial power” shall be construed to mean, the holding of any evidentiary hearing not presided over by an Article III court or the issuance of findings which result in imprisonment, fine, or punishment of a citizen, legal entity, corporation, or company of any state or the United States.

Under this law, all current rules implemented by any government agency, organization, or entity created by Congress that has legislative or judiciary powers as defined above will become null and void five years from the date of passage unless approved by normal constitutional means.”

Please consider this carefully.

Sincerely, _____________

The corn producers may be getting rich on corn sales but the rising costs of corn are playing havoc on food prices. The use of corn and other food grains for ethanol has to be ended as bad policy. That the EPA is playing more regulations when meat producers and dairies are most impacted by feed prices, shows that the Federal Government is more dangerous than the disasters its regulations are designed to prevent.

Not to mention there are no water shortages in Cal yet the farmers have had their water turned off for years. Pure political punishment.

Close the EPA

I’m just going to toss this out there. Maybe one of you fine FReepers will know.

What is the procedure for food grown in other countries? Do our FDA inspectors inspect the facilities, conditions, etc.? Do they have to meet the same criteria as facilities here?

I once asked my cousin working with his corn operation if he wanted to irrigate the corn in the rain and he said. “Yep, it ain’t corn anymore, its gold!”

I think Zero will find that we are a healthy, independent group of people here in the USA. Still, as you said, “...control the food supply...” which they did pass a bill to control.

The more corn you need the more we’ll grow. Farming is dynamic at being able to produce the crops that make the most money!

The premise: spilled milk could wind up in navigable water ways ................................................................. I recently read an article in Acre's U.S.A. about some dairies that were putting excess milk on their pastures as ferilizer and that it worked great, with the cattle prefering to eat the "milked" portions of pasture first.

Import fruit, for example, comes in to prossessing plants that have USDA inspectors on site. Lots of regulations. However, if you like strawberries in the winter, then most of them come from Chili.
