There’s some real anger spilling over at the Daily Wire this week but I think it’s fair to say this has been building up for a while now. Ben Shapiro, the co-founder of the Daily Wire, has obviously been one of the most outspoken defenders on Israel online. Candace Owens works there as one of their most prominent voices but she’s taken a very different view. For instance, she has argued that the charge of anti-Semitism has been “weaponized” to silence people.

I want it known that the great majority of Jewish people weaponizing anti-Semitism charges are coming from the left. I listen to Charlie Kirk almost daily and I know he’s no anti-Semite, probably a philo-Semite. The questions he was scorched over were the same questions I had in the immediate aftermath: how the hell could this have happened given Israel’s vaunted security capabilities and track record? I am not suggesting any conspiracy theories and I would be suspicious of the motives of anyone who would. It just needs to be investigated and explained because it doesn’t make any sense.
I’m not familiar with Candace Owens’ specific statements in this case, so I won’t comment, but, overall, I believe her when she says she supports Israel. Listening to her with Tucker last night, I could not agree with her “absolutist” 1A defense of people calling for my death and the deaths of every Jew. I don’t mean that the government has the right to stop these people from protesting, but certainly, calling for genocide amounts to a form of terroristic threats and incitement to murder, which are criminal offenses. Likewise, I believe any private person or organization that wants to impose their own sanctions (firing, expulsion from college, etc.) are certainly as entitled to their point of view.
She is a GRIFTER. Period. everything she says is for her own benefit, like suddenly proclaiming "Christ is King" and quoting scripture to instantly try and make her Israel-Hamas feud with Shapiro one over religion.
She is a complete phony. Remember how she got her start: she falsely claimed that "white boys" "racially harrassed" her at a Stamford, CT high school - as she proclaimed in a press conference with the NAACP, who then pressured the school to piny up $38,000 to give to Candace, who had no proof or witnesses whatsoever.
She suddenly joined the anti-Israel team when she saw how it was trending on TikTok, and just after "Queen" Rania of Jordan chimed in. I can't stand Shapiro, and his voice alone makes me avoid his videos, but Owens is NO conservative. Don't trust anything she says.
Hunting Jews is never tolerable.

I’m not confused. She is speaking from both sides of her mouth on this.
And her boss is calling her out and she doesn’t like it.
Ben took her words and turned them into that she supports Hamas.
That isn’t what she said.
Ben has been wrong too many times to count.

But that is not the weaponization of antisemitism Candace was referring to. Candace was defending the Queen of Jordan’s use of the term as a device to silence critics of Israel.

It’s just like “Racism”, “homophobe” and all the other “phobias”.
Victim-hood is a propaganda weapon that has been quite effective, and that’s why every group rushes to paint itself as the victim.
And the fact that there are millions of useful idiots that easily fall for that is at the heart of most of our cultural problems.

I have been told by very knowledgeable people here on FR that it is o.k. to say your own government is evil but it is NEVER o.k. to say the government of Israel is evil. That would be anti-semitism....and ultimately “un-Christian”.
I have even had threads removed for saying such things.
The word “anti-Semitism” is just another word for calling people “racist” that protects Jews from criticism.
It is fast losing its power because it is used by the ADL against everyone and everything.
In the context of the immediate aftermath of the Oct 7 attack by Hamas, to bring up the anti-zionist and anti-colonial arguments as a reason for Israel to stop fighting back are indeed anti-semitic.
It’s comparable to the “chickens coming home to roost” post 9-11 for America haters.
Anti-zionists and anti-colonialists are linked. Colonialism, like slavery is in history. Folks arguing about these things in the past as justification for punishing people today, are ultimately just expressing their hatred of white people.
But they are mostly useful idiots. Those pulling the strings and pushing the propaganda sow this division to advance marxism.
The problem (as it almost always does) comes down to the definition of things.
What is “calling for my death and the deaths of every Jew”?
What is “protesting”?
What is “calling for genocide”?
When did these happen and what EXACTLY was said?
Are you referring to people saying “from the river to the sea”? Is saying those words equal to calling for genocide?
How about “turn Gaza into rubble”? How about “finish them”? Are those calls for genocide?
Personally, I would agree that if someone said “every Jew should be killed” and another person heard them say that and killed someone in response, the initial person should be held partially responsible.
If someone said, “Israel is an evil Zionist nation who is stealing the land of Palestinians.” and someone else goes out and kills someone in response, that is not the same thing.
Not a fan of Shapiro. Both of these, Shapiro and Owens went crazy on Crowder when he questioned the Daily Wire’s motives.
That aside, she sounded like some peacenik quoting Scripture. There’s no parity of issue here Candace. The Charter of Hamas explicitly calls for the extermination of jews and Israel. And the PA, who lost control of Hamas and Gaza in 2006 have recently voiced their support for Hamas.
So screw the new nazis on the block. Welcome the new nazis same (or worst) then the old nazis.
Further, what happened to the German people? The Nazis only got 33% of the vote in 1932. Enough for Hitler to be appointed chancellor in 1933. German people had hell and fire bombing on their cities. Hamas wins election and now their nazified population will pay the price. Same with the fascist Japanese population.
So maybe if she stopped being an empty headed peacenik Shapiro wouldnt have mouthed off. I understand his position though more than hers.As nebulous as hers was.
I can appreciate the need for definition, but your standard of requiring a perfectly explicit statement is nonsense. There is no doubting that the ultimate mission of Hamas is the genocide of the Jewish people. If you support Hamas, you are supporting this goal. If you are tearing down posters of kidnapped Jewish children, you support Hamas and demonstrate your utter contempt for the lives of Jews. If you suggest in the slightest way that there was some justification for the October 7 attacks, you support Hamas. If you know that a cease-fire would help Hamas (besides supposedly saving innocent civilians) to continue murdering Jews, you support Hamas.
These are just a few of the common statements made by protestors at so-called “cease fire” rallies. All this is the same as if you would say anything in support of, or apologizing for, Nazi Germany after the gas chambers, the crematoria and the Einsatzgruppen became public knowledge. Facts and statements of intent can be fully established by the unavoidable implications of one’s actions and words.
She is correct. Where was all this outrage for the blatant anti-White and anti-West rhetoric over the last 10+ years?
Shapiro’s voice is almost as irritating as a Yoko Ono record.
There isn’t necessarily a contradiction between what Owens said and what Shapiro believes, but when controversy is one’s bread and butter, one finds irreconcilable conflicts everywhere.

He did say recently defending southerners were not anti semites and were arguably the worlds most devoted defenders of Israel which is not entirely due to dispensation amongst evangelicals (I am in the secular reasons group)
But it’s a hot issue for him given 10-7
What he misses is it’s a hot issue for plenty of we non Jews too
I saw the vids on telegram within 36 hours including things I’d like to unsee
But in this atmosphere discussing the facts and nuance of the Palestinian Arab conundrum will get name calling quick
USA is the only nation on earth like this about this issue
It’s sure a nice wedge between dem elites and donor class versus their rabid pro Palestinian base with rent a mobs funded by Soros and Wyss et Al ready to hit the barricades in hours
