Many years ago, some high school kids dropped a bag of flour on the air inlet on the cowl behind the hood. It was something like $6,000 to repair.
About 16 years ago, my BIL gave our son his old Porsche 911. Some bullies at the high school stomped the car (Lord knows why). The original white paint was somewhat faded and chalky, so the whole car had to be repainted. The price was close to $12,000. They caught the jerks and we knew a couple of them and their parents. When they got hit with the bill we heard the usual whiny, liberal refrain — “Why should our kids have to pay for that?” My wife and I couldn’t believe our ears. Because your kids are CRIMINALS and should PAY UP. That’s why! They did pay and the car looked great, but the interior was a disaster and a couple of the engine cylinders later went dead.
I’ve had minor body work and repainting that cost many thousands.
The price of body work and repainting is astonishing.
Indeed. I hit a raccoon at highway speed while driving a Corolla. $2000 damage to the car. Condition of the raccoon unknown. Covered, of course, but the price tag surprised me.
