(Travelling at speeds of the space shuttle it would take some 150,000 years to reach the outskirts of the Alpha Centuri system)

Not if their craft can bend space and time.

Not if their craft can bend space and time.

If you bend it too far, you can break it. Then you are stuck there, wherever or whenever that may be.

I don’t think the craft ‘bend’ space and time except from an observer’s point of view. IMO that’s just a projection of contemporary spatial-based understanding. I think it’s more a matter of warping space around the vehicle so it exists independent of our observed space and time. It displaces space. Sorta like a boat hull in water. It moves by displacing space on one side while the displacement bubble collapses behind the craft. When it encounters matter it naturally slows down as there is much more matter to be displaced so more time or energy to displace the given space.
