North Korean Test a fake? (U.S. Official Confirms North Korean Nuclear Test to FOX News)
Vanity | 10/8/06 | struggle

Posted on 10/08/2006 9:07:09 PM PDT by struggle

Does anyone here think is is fishy that a claimed 400kt was a 5kt poof? Does anyone here think this is a conventional detonation of a few thousand tons in a shallow surface location to create the appearance of a nuke?

No nuclear signature, no leak. Is that suspicious? Is North Korea simply trying to save face and collect money?

Just checked FoxNews website says US couldn't confirm, but I heard the guy with my own ears and he was supposedly making official statements, including about the warning, which I also didn't see on the web yst.

I guess there are some delays and confusion.

It is fairly recognizable, but isn't going to be on the various webicorders avaliable on the web - seismometers are set to different sensitivity levels and various frequencies and the ones on the web aren't really attuned to picking up small nuclear tests.

I wouldn't be the least bit suprised if it was a joint effort.

"US officially confirmed it was a nuclear test..."

Only IF true, then we've just confirmed a North Korean act of war.

The Korean War Armistace forbids nuclear weapons on the entire Korean Peninsula.

Violating the Armistace returns us to a shooting war, effectively.

Sounds real to me. Im listening to live streaming of the BBC. They keep updating the situation. No donkeys mentioned on the BBC but in USENET... the dems are getting blamed for this. Especially Clinton.

The idea they would fake a nuke test frankly is preposterous.

Not even Kim would stoop to that.

If they say they did it, they did it.

come on.

"No donkeys mentioned on the BBC but in USENET... the dems are getting blamed for this. Especially Clinton."

It actually puts the Euro's in an awkward position with regard to their nuclear talks with Iran.

This does not mean they are anywhere near capable of putting a nuclear warhead on any of their missiles. That said, it's still an important event in the fact that such a device can be put on a ship, taken to a port, and detonated in a major population center.

this sort of scenario or something similar is our worst nightmare, exactly why I said NUKE them right now back into the stone age, may God rest their souls.

>>I wouldn't count on it, I say load up the B-2's and F-117's with heavy weapons and take care of this little problem for good.

I would love to hear that US Air Force official announce that Red Flag exercises will be moved from Nellis AFB to North Korea and will include live fire exercise.

Not really. It's not like outrageous claims and outright lies don't already occur in NK and other communist countries. In this case, howver, I do believe they were able to conduct a test on a device similar to what we made in the in the 1940s.

Well, let's see now. Hiroshima was 15 kt and Nagasaki was 21kt and someone says 400 kt. I don't think so. I'm not yet convinced it was real although we'll know soon enough.

What is it that they are wanting? I don't see what they gain from this if it is true. What am I missing?
