A hippo escaped from a flooded private zoo in Montenegro Tuesday, shocking villagers who found her strolling near their homes.
Nikica escaped as heavy rains sent water flooding through the zoo, raising the water level in her pen and allowing her to swim over the top of the cage surrounding it.
Zoo owner Dragan Pejovic ..."Of course, we will not be able to bring her back until the water recedes," he said. Although hippos are known as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa, he said that "there is no reason for panic."
"Our hippo is a peaceful and tame animal," Pejovic said, adding that she had lived in his zoo for nine years without causing any trouble to local villagers.

Do they speak a "Montenegro dialect" in Montenegro?
Best laugh I've had all day!
Wow, look at that mouth!
THAT'S MONTERACIST!
I shot a Hippo in my pajamas.
How it fit in my pajamas I will never know....
Thank you, I am here all week...
In 1983, I was on TDY to the U S Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia. One weekend, I went with my boss and couple of Zambian guys on a hunting weekend. We ended up on one of the Zambian guy’s 17’ boat on the Zambezi river. We were fishing for tigerfish, very close to the Zimbabwean side. About 15’ from our boat, something surfaced. I thought it was a 55-gallon drum, but it was a big bull hippo. Scared me to death! I was terrified that this guy would tip our boat into the river, and we would all end up as crocodile food.
