The man found to be carrying guns while waiting in line for a Black Friday sale said in court this morning that he's a retired federal law enforcement officer.
Boynton Beach police said they arrested Christopher D. Scott, 49, just after midnight today in a checkout line at the Walmart at 3200 Old Boynton Road.
Scott is charged with three counts each of carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Officers had been doing an extra patrol at the store because of the large crowd seeking early bargains.
A police log said Scott wore a .40-caliber Glock handgun with a 30-round magazine in a holster at his hip, as well as two concealed knives and a "pepper grenade."
He also had prescription pills but no label or paperwork, the log said.
In court this morning, prosecutors told Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Krista Marx that Scott had five previous arrests, one for a misdemeanor and four for felonies.
That's when Scott leaned into Assistant Public Defender Juan Fernandez-Barquin and revealed his former career, saying he'd been in law enforcement for both the U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Department of Justice.
"I find it hard to believe with the felony (arrests)," Marx said. Scott then said he'd been a victim of identity theft.
"There have been issues with his social security number," Fernandez-Barquin said.
"That's a big discrepancy," Marx said.
A few minutes later, Assistant State Attorney Rob Melchiorre said he'd checked and the arrest record was in fact for a different person.

Don't they usually come with a 15 round magazine? how big would a 30 round one be?
So he wasn’t breaking any laws.
I’m going to take a wild guess and suggest that one reason he came armed is that he wanted to be able to save lives in the event of a terror attack.
Just my opinion.
I have three Glocks, the 20,21 and 23 which is the .40 and the only caliber I know that uses any large mag is the 9mm and that is a 33 round mag that was designed for the Glock 18 auto-pistol. It can be used in other 9mm Glocks.
“... two concealed knives”
Don’t be carring no ‘ol Timers in yo pocket.
From the full article A few minutes later, Assistant State Attorney Rob Melchiorre said he’d checked and the arrest record was in fact for a different person. So this guy might be telling the truth!
2X20=40???
I would just carry 4 hi cap mags, even the mid sized Glock 23 in .40 is 13+1 in the pipe.
There is a time and a place for those big mags but just the sight of one by regular people causes mass panic, dogs copulating with cats, finest wines turning into Gatorade and the arrival of a brigade of tanks.
They stick out about 3 to 4 inches from the bottom of the grip. If it was covered by a shirt his glock would look like it had a hard on if he actually had it loaded in the gun. That could be why they noticed it.
The best available hi-cap pistol that know of is the FiveNseven, 20 round mags.
I have modified metal mags and a decent sheet metal welder can make their own. Had a pair of those CA mags for my S&W Sigma, I changed them back into hi-caps.
If these loathsome "nude scanners" metastasize from airports to other forms of travel such as boats, bus terminals, etc, and from there to public places such as malls and sports arenas-
How would this impact people with CCW licenses?
Those of us with CCW licenses would just shop elsewhere.
Does Walmart have a no CCW policy? If so, I’ve never seen it posted at their entrances.
Article’s “facts” seem to contradict ... he had a holstered forearm but is charged with concealed carry? Keep in mind open carry is against the law in Florida.
I am going to take a different wild guess. There was a Black Friday sale on 56" HDTVs and he wasn't going to let someone get the last one before him.
There is something very strange about this article. Just doesn’t make a lot of sense.
What if “elsewhere” starts becoming hard to locate? If more and more places start installing these monstrosities? Tehn what do we do?
That's probably part of the guy's problem.
My guess is that he was effectively carrying concealed and yet allowed people to see the weapon. If he does not have a concealed carry license, then he could be charged with carrying concealed WITHOUT A LICENSE. The publication is probably a liberal rag and their policy is probably to hide from people that there is a legal way to carry ... if one is willing to put up with the infringements.
