I wouldn't watch it. It's a trap. I saw Videodrome when I was a youngster.

Any prisoner expressing an interest in suicide should be given cyanide on a silver tray with Evian to wash it down.

Agreed. It should be an option for any prisoner serving a long sentence. If they want to check out, see the warden, the priest, and your attorney, take the pill and lay down. The state could even save money by paying for a nice funeral with the family.

Yeesh, suicide watch.
Guess they took the ‘watch’ term too seriously.

“It’s like a severe weather watch, right?”
“I guess so.”
“Okay, let’s watch.”

Always good to see someone achieve their goals.

He was arrested to attempting to seize the weapon of a Federal Protective Service officer, during which he said he wanted to kill himself.

A troubled dude is my guess, other things found on google indicates he was employed (not sure if civilian or in service) of the Coast Guard in New Orleans. He even made decent powerpoint slides.

Assuming it relates to your #1 comment (about knowing why he wanted to kill himself), then there are at least three of us. :)

I’m lost. It says that he said he wanted to kill himself and went for the officers gun “just moments before he was arrested”. That implies he was going to be arrested for a separate crime. If he went for the gun to kill himself and that was the CAUSE for arrest, then that wouldn’t count as “just moments before he was arrested”. That or Journalist are far inferior writers than even I thought.

If going for the gun to kill himself is the cause for arrest, then the line “just moments before he was arrested” is completely superfluous.

I’m taking the line at face value and reading that he was going to be arrested for committing a crime, and that prompted him to go for the officers gun to kill himself. If that is the case, then what was the crime for which he was originally going to be arrested.

If the “crime” was going for the officers gun, then the NOLA Times Picayune should hire journalists with high school diplomas and minimum 5th grate writing skills.

Everything I saw indicated he was arrested for going for the officers gun. The officer was one providing security for a Federal building, and not so far as I can tell, involved with this gent prior to the gun grabbing attempt.

I do agree that the journalism is horrendous.
