ST. LOUIS (AP) — A federal judge on Tuesday approved a settlement in the wrongful-death lawsuit filed by the parents of Michael Brown, an unarmed, black 18-year-old, whose fatal shooting by a white police officer nearly three years ago in Ferguson, Missouri, set off months of protests.
Financial terms of the settlement approved by U.S. District Judge E. Richard Webber were not disclosed. Anthony Gray, the attorney for Brown's parents, declined comment, as did Ferguson Mayor James Knowles III.

Gobsmacked. Am I dreaming this? How can this be? A punk criminal is killed trying to assault a law enforcement officer, and it is a wrongful death? What if the Gentle Giant had killed the cop? What would the payout be?
I would suspect that there was no one representing the taxpayer for this case!

How it should be paid...On a Friday after the banks are closed, or Saturday afternoon, bring the money to the house. Open the case and show on national TV, Facebook and other social media, all that cash. Show the house, show the neighborhood. Mention several times the “Millions in cash money payment at this address.”
Then leave and pull all law enforcement away from the area for several days.

Yep, until Trump took office, the threat of the DOJ taking harsher action with Ferguson if the family payday did not meet their standards.
Plenty of people left in the DOJ to influence the case.
And the city should sue the parents for inciting riots and burning parts of the town down. Former Officer Wilson should sue for the BS that he had to go through. This country is quite insane when it comes to the “Rule of Law” (whatever that means anymore.)

the judge should have ordered them to pay for the cops ammo that was used to kill their criminal son and for all the overtime to local Law Enforcement it caused.

I’ll say. Taxpayers with their hands in the air being shaken down by politicians and gangsters. Disgusting. Since when do criminals who get themselves killed while being criminals win big payoffs for their survivors? This could start a very lucrative way of providing for your family.
Why should these thug-producers be paid anything? It’s more like they should be forced to pay the city.

Pretty easy, mayor agrees to settlement, but he doesn’t have to pay for it, the taxpayers do. I wonder how many of those taxpayers are happy with this.
Should’ve tossed the family a box of Swisher Sweets and called it done.
