He would have not lost his money. He had full documentation what the money was for. Btw from the bank to the guys house was a few miles.

The highway that runs from Shreveport back towards Houston is infamous for the law pulling over “speeders” and finding they have been to the Casino, the car is searched. Cash is confiscated due to this same law.

Yep.

And the people did nothing wrong.

It is really amazing how people on this board can defend this kind of legal abuse and whine about how you just need to prove that the money is yours legally. Of course the thieves in blue always say, no matter if you have an affidavit from God Almighty, that is not good enough and you will spend years trying to prove it is honest money.

A. That is expensive

B. That is flat out wrong.

You should have to arrest someone before you can take their stuff and prove they are guilty of a crime before you can keep their stuff.

Drug runner.

Wouldn't a drug runner have drugs?

If she walks away without fighting for it, then it must be dirty money. I’d fight in court for a lot less than $100k.

So you would spend thousands of dollars to get back what was rightfully yours in the hopes that the seizure didn't drag on for years like another thread here where the LEO's held a woman's car for five years?

That's not the issue here, it's the fact that law enforcement seized her cash just because they can with no concrete evidence to do so...........In other words, you're fucked!

“If you 100k in cash you will have some verification where it came from- deceased relative, selling property, even written receipt if you won at the casino or poker game”

Why? And what if the pigs don’t believe the ‘verification’ if you do have it?

I guess they take the money and you go spend $50k to prove your ‘verification’ is real. No downside for them...at all. Perhaps if they were required to pay your legal bills (if you win) along with interest, the pigs wouldn’t be so quick to seize money.

On their way to buy them or already sold them

You can lose that twenty just as easily as twenty thousand.

And if you happen to have anything else of value they can swipe that too.

Can you prove that ring you are wearing is honest?

What about your watch?

The police said they believed she was in the process of committing a crime. There are protocols for this. I bet she had a drug arrest record.
Again, what 25 year old has 100k in cash and cannot explain where it came from or what it was going to to be used for.

The police said they believed she was in the process of committing a crime.

But did not arrest her.

Curious.

But hey if officer jackboot and the other thieves in blue think that money should belong to them then it would be a crime to allow her to keep it.

Right?

I'm wondering why she has to come up with a "reasonable explanation" for her own assets? I thought we were innocent until proven guilty. Suspicion is not guilt.

Yes, a 25 yo with $100K seems suspicious. But what are the criteria here? If she was 45 yo would that be better, more believable that she had acquired that money honestly? What if it were only $50K, or $5K?

I know a couple of people who work as servers in a local high end restaurant. They get paid out tips in cash. One of them mentioned he doesn't get to the bank very often, and has walked into the bank with over $10K in a bag. More than once. I mentioned back to him that walking around with that kind of cash is borderline insanity in my book. I even offered to act as an armed guard for him the next time he does that...if he would buy the next round. ;-)

Could be. Lots of people commit crimes - should that deprive them of the right to carry money?

“Again, what 25 year old has 100k in cash and cannot explain where it came from or what it was going to to be used for.”

Well then make it ILLEGAL to not have an acceptable reason to be carry money? (and good luck getting that through the courts) We’re STILL trying to figure out what law she broke.

And like I say - REQUIRE every cent to be returned to her, plus legal fees, plus interest (Prime plus 6%), if police are unable to link the money to illegal activities.

Then you won’t have all of FR opposing you.

Lose twenty easier than losing twenty K. Don’t carry cash period. FedEx what you need/want that’s expensive to where you’re going.

Agreed. For most legal interactions we have this notion of innocent until proven guilty. But I guess if they see something they like, it gets flipped to guilty, now prove your innocence while we keep your property. LE should not be able to confiscate anything until after they have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it was the product of illegal activity or intended for illegal activity.

"Is she with BLM?"

Burn-Loot-Murder has $1 Billion + cash from shaking down US corporations.

That is petty cash to them to pay for the next riot.
