Video released by the Baltimore Police Department shows the fatal shooting of “anti-violence activist” Tyree Moorehead, The incident occurred Sunday afternoon.
When officers arrived, Moorehead was seen lunging at a woman with a large kitchen knife, and an officer opened fire, fatally striking him.
Moorehead was the creator of the city’s “no shoot zones,” which he spray-painted around neighborhoods in an effort to reduce gun violence.

I’m only talking about those fired once he’d crawled away from the woman and was on his back. From that stance he’d take time to try get up (as opposed to slowly twitching), giving the cop plenty of time to start shooting again or to reload.
Look, I’m not saying it was wrong to shoot the guy ... just that the cop went a bit over the top once she, the victim, was clearly out of danger of receiving new wounds and he, the cop, still had distance and reaction time on his side.
Also, very “Psycho” of the perp to use a chef’s knife.
And if he’d watched Chris Rock’s how not to get beat up by the police recently he might not be dead now. Not committing crimes was a big part of the advice Rock offered.
After watching it again, I believe the shooting officer should be reprimanded. He wasn’t driving with his hands in the 10 and 2 position, and at times appeared to let go of the wheel.

It’s possible to accurately throw a chef’s knife some distance — i have no idea how it could be done from that ... um ... stance? — and there are YouTube channels dedicated to knife and ax throwing.

Fair enough, but your analysis is far more complicated than I would expect of anyone in that moment. The fact that the assailant refused to drop the weapon precludes any assumption he was no longer a threat.
The only thing the PERP is a victim of, is his own stupidity.

Well good old Massad can say what he wants, but the 9mm bullet is just too small and fast to do the necessary damage to the target, no matter what the combat situation, the stopping power is low.
The ,45 auto is not going away and the concealed carry society does a good comparison between the two calibers, rating the ,45 auta as equal to the 9mm but superior in bullet expansion and stopping power, and safer to use indoors.
I have target practiced with 9mm and .45 auto, standing peces of firewood on their ends at 75 feet. Both 45 and 9 mm used were not hollow point The 9mm rounds would go clean through the maple firewood splits ( about 5 to 8 inches)
but the .45 knocked the forewood over , cartwheel spinning some of them.
The perp in this instant case would have been stopped with one round, 2 at most. But the officer emptied a high capacity mag into the man, very, very bad PR in that neighborhood for the police.

If your objective is to put the other guy down no matter how many rounds you absorb, then the isosceles stance is excellent. Stand still, line up your shot and do a mag dump. This cop was hoping to go back to his family in one piece, so jinked and dodged to spoil the other guy’s aim.
