Similar here with the Texas Gulf Coast and the real stuff, when I ate at a Red Lobster around 1974 I was shocked and actually puzzled by the whole experience trying to figure out how people could think of it as seafood.

In the 2000s I joined a big group at a Red lobster and while I didn’t order food I sampled some of someone else’s to see if I had been wrong all those years, it was as bad as I remembered.

I could pull Gordon’s frozen seafood out of the freezer at home and eat it with ketchup but to go to a restaurant and call it seafood? No way.
