Ex-diversity boss at Facebook, Nike who orchestrated fake events to steal $5M gets five years, must pay back hefty sum

The ex-diversity program manager for Facebook and Nike who stole more than $5 million from the mega companies to fund her “luxury lifestyle” was sentenced Monday to five years behind bars — and ordered to pay back the hefty sum.

Barbara Furlow-Smiles, 38, set up fake business deals, invoices and events — including a Juneteenth celebration — to line her own pockets, the Justice Department said.

“Furlow-Smiles shamelessly violated her position of trust as a DEI executive at Facebook to steal millions from the company utilizing a scheme involving fraudulent vendors, fake invoices, and cash kickbacks,” said US Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said in a statement.

“After being terminated from Facebook, she brazenly continued the fraud as a DEI leader at Nike, where she stole another six-figure sum from their diversity program.”

Furlow-Smiles pleaded guilty in December to the wire fraud scheme, which saw her take more than $4.9 million from Facebook before bilking another six-figure sum from Nike “to fund a luxury lifestyle in California, Georgia, and Oregon,” the DOJ said.

The social media company claimed her “crimes also resulted in anguish amongst those employees that worked closely with her,” while Nike slammed her “complete lack of accountability or remorse was incredibly disappointing,” according to sentencing memos obtained by CNBC.

From approximately January 2017 to September 2021, the Georgia native “led diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs at Facebook and was responsible for developing and executing DEI initiatives, operations, and engagement programs,” prosecutors said.

She used her access to company credit cards and her power to approve invoices for authorized vendors to pay numerous individuals,” including her friends and relatives, “for goods and services that in truth were never provided to Facebook.”

I do a lot of federal criminal defense work and I’d say 95% of all embezzlement cases charged around here are women aged 35-55. You’ll see a lot of men in fraud and scam cases (PPP loans, payroll taxes, tax evasion, etc.) however , that age group of women has the market cornered on embezzlement.

Such silly vanity. My wife and I have never needed to renew our wedding vows. We’ve remained committed to each other since I proposed and she accepted the proposal, (just over 46 yrs ago), if not before.

(He’s maybe a little overweight, yet she looks to outweigh him 2 to 1. Guess he better do as she says.)

Disney’s DEI Chief leaves amid controversy (and huge woke film flops)

Latondra Newton, Disney’s chief diversity officer since 2017, has parted ways with the company to pursue other endeavors, according to an internal memo obtained by Variety. The memo, sent to Disney staff by chief human resources officer Sonia Coleman, acknowledged Newton’s contributions to Disney’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

Newton’s departure comes after the underwhelming performance of Disney’s recent woke releases, including the live-action race-swapped version of “The Little Mermaid” and the Pixar film “Elemental,” which introduced Disney’s first non-binary character.

“Elemental” had a unsuccessful opening weekend at the box office, earning an estimated $29.6 million, making it the lowest premiere for a Pixar title since 1995. The film’s inclusion of a non-binary character voiced by Ava Hauser received attention but did not translate into success. Similarly, “The Little Mermaid” reboot is projected to perform poorly in China, a major market for Hollywood.

Disney has faced challenges with recent releases, including the underperforming “Lightyear” in 2022. The film, which had a budget of $200 million, fell short at the box office. Additionally, controversy arose when a lesbian kiss scene was removed from the film due to internal backlash but was later reinserted.

Disney’s Assisted Suicide——on a quest to kill itself.

After spending the last year becoming the world’s leading advocate of the radical gay agenda, including grooming young children to be supporters of and participants in it, the company has lost over $190 billion in market value. The Dump Disney boycott jointly sponsored by the International Organization for the Family (publisher of iFamNews) and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) and other groups has been a significant contributor to Disney’s decline with over 33,000 people pledging to cease using any Disney product or service – a huge hit to the company’s bottom line.

Customers are fleeing the company in droves. Over two million subscribers to their Disney + streaming service have left the service. Their gay-themed movies and TV shows have all flopped, costing them hundreds of millions in losses. Their new movie Elemental, which features a “non-binary” character, is the latest to be rejected by audiences with the lowest opening weekend in company history. The company’s many failures have resulted in their former CEO being fired and having to lay off 7,000 workers.

Despite all the problems their actions have caused the company, like a desperate junkie who continues to inject his body full of drugs despite the many festering needle mark sores and rapidly declining health, Disney has decided to invest more in their embrace of all things homosexual and transgender. They’ve hired a prominent homosexual Hollywood producer to assist them in their suicide attempt.

Numerous media outlets are reporting that Disney has recruited homosexual producer Ryan Murphy to leave Netflix later this year when his $300 million contract with them expires. Murphy is no stranger to gay-themed content, or to entertainment failures. Indeed, virtually everything he has done in recent years revolves around homosexuality and gay sex. All have been flops.

Check out these productions from the man that Disney has reportedly hired to assist them in their suicide:
Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story about the homosexual serial killer
Hollywood, a super woke miniseries about race and homosexuality
A Secret Love about lesbian baseball players
Halsten, a miniseries about a gay interior designer
The Politician, where all the main characters are “queer”
Pray Away, a documentary about “conversion therapy”
The Prom, a movie about high school lesbians
The Boys in the Band, a movie remake about gay teens

Disney is so deep into their delusion that promoting the gay agenda and grooming children is their future, that one can only imagine how much money they will shower on Ryan Murphy for him to help further the company’s suicide. It’s clear that more needs to be done before Disney sees the error of their ways and changes course to restore the vision that Walt Disney had for his company as the preeminent source of wholesome entertainment for children and families.

There are two things that readers can do to help us: Sign our Dump Disney boycott and then share it with all your friends, contacts and family members. Make a financial donation to help us spread the word about our Dump Disney boycott to help us recruit more people to make the boycott pledge.

Our efforts to hold Disney accountable for their actions have caused huge problems for the woke corporation. But it is a tough battle because Disney has enormous corporate financial resources while we are a grassroots organization that depends on individuals and families for support.

It is truly shocking, and quite sad, to see Disney pursue a course that, left unchecked, will ultimately lead to the death of the company. Disney needs to hit bottom before they can begin to heal their company by returning to wholesome entertainment. True diversity shouldn’t stop at racial or sexual orientation or perversion, but should also include all manner of criminal mindsets. And don’t discriminate against the paths either, sociopaths, psychopaths, the whole range of neurodiversive and psychiatric diversity.
