A 12-year-old Las Vegas girl took her own life after being tormented by bullies at her middle school for months.
Flora Martinez, a sixth grader at Keller Middle School, killed herself on May 7 - eight months and one day after her transfer out of Duane D. Keller middle school was denied. Her funeral was on Thursday.
Her distraught parents are now blaming the Clark County School District for not doing enough to protect their daughter.
Grieving mother, Alice Martinez told News8: 'I feel like the school had a duty to keep her safe, while she was in their care and they just failed miserably.'
The young girl's parents said their daughter's peers started bullying her early into the school year. Flora's mother claimed both she and her child approached the assistant principal for help.
The mom then submitted paperwork for her daughter's transfer out of the middle school, but her request was denied in October.
Flora's mother said she had taken her daughter out of school for two weeks early in the school year when the bullying began, but when she returned to school it intensified.
'Everybody that had a hand in that request to transfer her failed her. If you’re a parent and you’re not outraged by this, you’re part of the problem too,' Martinez said.
Flora's dad Joshua Parker said: 'This wasn’t just one incident that happened, and you know, she decided to take her life.
'This was months and months and months of bullying that built up, and finally, she just couldn’t take it no more.'
The heartbroken father added: 'Look how hard it was on my daughter. My daughter was literally bullied to death.'

Bullying....
I remember the man addressing the media after his son had been bullied and then was named Top Nerd In School by the students. His son killed himself after their gag poll.
“You may have thought it was funny and that you felt good about yourselves for that. To you he was just a nerd. But to me, his loving father, he was my son and I’ve lost him because of you.”

Blaming or questioning the victim in bullying cases is really a crime in itself.
I was bullied once waiting to go inside my junior high school. A juvenile prison returnee about three years older than his classmates and three of his thug pals for no good reason singled me out at random to surround and beat me a little.

I had been ill with rheumatic fever and several childhood illnesses earlier and still had heart trouble from the damage from the fever so had no chance for any sports or even to take one gym class—ever. So a skinny kid. Part of my “anger issues” today.
Your story reminds me of one I heard from someone close to me. A young boy was sick all his life and finally started school in her sixth grade class. He was a nice boy, and all he wanted was friends, but the other boys were mean to him. His mother tried so hard to help him make friends, but the other boys were so cruel. That young boy died from his illness that year. Children can be cold and heartless sometimes.
Yep, I was the smallest boy and shy. That’s all it took for the predators. I finally quit in the 10th grade. Walking to school one day, I just couldn’t go there another day so I hung out in the woods. A few months later, they expelled me for not showing up. That’s when my parents found out. Parents got me into vo-tech where I redid 10th grade but things were no better because most of those kids got kicked out of their regular high school, some for bullying. I quit in the 11th grade and got a job at 17 1/2. There were still a—holes but no physical abuse because their livelihood would have been jeopardized.
Same with me. I’m working well below my potential, I was chased out of school by my bullies.
I think if a dollar amount could be placed on how much bullying is costing society, in terms of lost tax revenues or social benefit costs, I think there would be a lot less tolerance for bullying.
Imagine if the average person came to the understanding that $15,000 of their income was going towards the societal costs of bullying, it would become more important to put a stop to it.
Another reason to homeschool...
In all of human history, it has never been normal to segregate children into narrow age groups.
It is an unnatural practice. We are then shocked that children act inhumanly like beasts?

Perhaps one of the best ways to stop bullying is to start educating children the way our ancestors did before the Prussian-model of schooling began.,

The late Dr.Wayne W. Dyer related one in one of his New Age books.
A woman wrote to him that her elementary school son had trouble making friends. She said as a mother you try to shield him from every harm and then have to let go to watch him on his own anyway.
He was working on his idea of writing a valentine’s card for each of the many classmates before the party at school. He tried to place which were by the window, the ones nearest the teacher’s desk and so on. “I don’t want to forget someone and make them feel bad.” So he did his best.
The day of the party ended and his mother saw him walking toward the house. “Oh, no, only one card in his hand. Must be the minimum mandatory one by the teacher to each child. Couldn’t someone, even one of them be kind enough to give him one card?” She held back tears and cheerfully said “How was the party? Were the cookies good?”
He was smiling. “Mama, it was great. I remembered every single one. I gave a card to each one. I didn’t forget even one. I’m so happy.”
Good idea.
Because Lord of the Flies was a documentary. Children are monsters. Once they decide one is weak they torment them. Even “good” kids, because if they don’t go along with the masses they’re next.
