President Javier Milei of Argentina continues to stun his critics with an economy that has outperformed expectations and continues along an ambitious path for national security, including pursuit of a NATO global partnership.
"The fact that you have a president, head of state, who is defending the free market, who is defending the role of entrepreneurs and businessmen as creators of value and just defending deregulation when the tendency in Latin America and much of the West has been to regulate the economy . . . I think that's very positive, not only for Argentina, but for the region as a whole and maybe beyond," Daniel Raisbeck, a policy analyst at the CATO Institute, told Fox News Digital.
Milei won the presidency in November last year and prompted concern from some in the West that he would lead his country down a road to ruin with libertarian policies that would make an already troubled economy even weaker. Voters wanted economic relief from a market hit with some of the highest inflation in the world.
Those attitudes have shifted just months later as Milei has enacted a raft of policy changes: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) agreed to release a tranche of loans due to Argentina under a bailout program thanks to Milei’s government managing to create a fiscal surplus in the previous fiscal quarter and bring inflation down.
Argentina’s inflation in March alone hit 287%, causing poverty to deepen, and citizens to take to the streets with strikes and protests against his policies. The monthly inflation rate was 25% in December when Milei first took office.
Milei then went on to significantly reduce spending with major cuts to public-sector wages as he suspended public works projects and cut subsidies. He also devalued the country’s currency by over 50%...

I personally think a US debt default, followed by a collapse in taxes and radical reduction in the size of US government, after a few very difficult years of reorganization of the economy, would mark a new renaissance of the US Republic

The fact that the policies and ideological bias of any particular person can make or break an entire nation’s fortunes is precisely the Achille’s heel that global marxism uses to get its foot in the door. One bad election is all it takes. That said I wish Argentina well.
Argentina and Milei can benefit immensely if it sells off land (Argentina has the largest shale deposits in the world) and then sells off the state owned oil company.
Maybe with the next American Renaissance will come wisdom enough to appreciate that liberalism in its many forms is what was most responsible for the fall of the country in the first place.
To the globalopolilstic bankers. That always works well and is the start to surfdom for every third world country out there. Not against privitizing these with Argentian entities. But, Argentina should ensure that these enterprises benefit Argentina. Now, let us turn to the US's problems in this regard.
It will only last until the next election or so. The people are prospering but pining for the good old days. Pinochet prospered Chile, but it took a few elections to return to the comfortable corruption and socialism.
Argentina pioneered the exile-by helicopter. Those emigrants never came back to Argentina.

So WHY are the Russians STILL doing this? And we know that the Chinese are doing similar stuff here. Driving division & chaos. Something needs to be done about it.
I agree, no need to sell of state land, the US never dose. Get non corrupt negotiator's to to ensure that the citizens and country enjoy maximum royalties for their resources.
American Indians tribes would all be rich and wealthy today if they had done the same. The fed/gov ensured they could not negotiate directly with anyone other than BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs). BIA was a the mecca of graft and kickbacks.
So the Indians ended up poor and us tax payers have been subsidizing them ever since.
Very similar the the current situation with illegal aliens. Rich liberals and big corps reap the benefits of cheep labor while we tax payers subsidies their education, health care, housing and everything else.

Please elaborate on exactly what Russia and China are doing (division & chaos) that we have not done in great abundance.

It’s common sense, not rocket science.
Just remember that the American Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution were considered to be extremely liberal by the ancient regime that ruled the rest of the world at the time. That ancient regime never went away it just rebranded itself as Socialism and Communism and coopted the name liberalism to itself.
At least 80% of the USA federal government needs to be eliminated. Entire departments need to be liquidated.
Why the hell do we need a Department of Education? Let the local school boards (and parents) deal with educating kids.
Get rid of the stinking EPA as well as PBS and NPR. Don’t need them AT ALL!

Apparently there are many ex-pats living there and love it, even before Milei came to power, and outside Brazil is the largest country in South America.
