The old days: An incompetent leader would resign in disgrace.
Today: An incompetent leader issues an apology, then hangs on for retirement and a fat pension.

I miss the old days. But I suppose it’s possible that I’m not remembering those days correctly.
🤔

a damaged air valve that may have let manure pass into the supply.

how would a properly designed system even allow that possibility?

Might have to go back to just wine and beer the way things are going.

Yeah, you always have a valve between your water supply and a cess pool. WTF? Who designed this system.?

Reminds me of the Cholera Epidemic of London in 1854. The disease was being contracted from certain public pumps that were being supplied through water companies drawing their supply directly from the Thames, which back then was still being used as a garbage disposal for parts of the city.

“As soon as they confirmed there was a bug in the water the doctors said ‘we know how to treat you now’.

It thought one would have to go across the English Channel to take in Parissites.

Having worked a water treatment and distribution job, this situation would be called a cross connection and is an absolute no no in the US. Any possibility of a sewage or other contamination source being plumbed to a treated water supply is absolute taboo.

Someone should be decorating a light pole over this.

Our own home’s water supply is protected with a 1 micron filter. The drinking & cooking water with a .5 micron carbon filter. These filters will stop anything nasty. I recommend everyone here have these installed. The best filters found at big box stores are 5 micron. The ones I recommend have to be ordered from dealers on Amazon.

We use softened well water and the .5 micron carbon filter creates a product almost as good as bottled water.
