Those Mirkwood elves were too materialistic (wanting THEIR share of the treasure, indeed!) Legolas, on the other hand, was higher class (and better looking!) But - Legolas was a Mirkwood Elf! His father, Thranduil, is King of Mirkwood, who locked the Dwarves up all those years ago.
