C'est la Guerre (Conservatives Who Don't Vote McCain are "Surrender Monkeys")
A Newt One ^ | June 17, 2008 | Snooper

James Lewis at The American Thinker: Conservatives must act

[...] Six months before November 2008, many conservatives are down in the dumps. John McCain is behind in the money race. George Will thinks we are doomed --- an amazing thing to say, half a year before a toss-up election. Even Rush is in a sulk about John McCain.

But the stakes are higher than they have been in the last fifty years. No major US political party has ever nominated a radical Leftist before --- and Obama can't hide his real loyalties. Even Bill Clinton was more of a 'moderate' Democrat. Obama is a True Believer in the Left, like a younger Hillary Clinton after a sex change and a major sun tan.

The last attempt by the radical Left to conquer the US presidency was defeated by Harry Truman in 1948. Well, the Dems have now allowed a true radical to win their nomination, and they seem to be thrilled by their new messiah.

Will the American people be taken in by the Left? That's the crucial question that will decide the historic election of '08. [...]

Will the American People be taken in by the Left? Silly question that. Quite a few Conservatives or those that claim to be one are throwing hissy fits about McCain I don't begrudge them that because I agree. However, we are at war and if Conservatives "stay home" or throw their vote away to "teach the GOP a lesson", they are dumber than a box of turtle turds and kick every single Troop right square in the groin. Thanks for nothing.

So, is Snooper right, and those who refuse to vote McCain are just throwing a tantrum, or is he wrong, and conservatives should stop voting party and vote principles?

Frankly, with McCain's rhetoric on global warming, open borders and big oil, I'm seeing less of a difference between him and Obama. Oh, I know the differences. It's the similarities that bother me.

What does Free Republic think?

Principle was for the primary. After the primary, there are two nominees, a Democrat and a Republican. All others are pretenders with trivial agendas.

It is ok to vote against Obama as long as the vote counts. That means the vote must be for McCain.

Voting against Obama by voting for McCain IS voting on principles.

The U.S. is truly doomed with either a socialistic President McCain or a Marxist President Obama along with a “Democratic Party dominated” Congress in both Houses.

I bought into that meme for the last twenty years. Not this time. With few exceptions the GOP at the federal level has failed to act with courage and vision because they know that even if they offered conservatives a plate of crap as its candidate, so long as it carried the "R" after its name, we'd vote for it with Pavlovian regularity.

Pass the bananas.

Me? I'm waiting to see who McNut picks for VP. And his recent statements about allowing off-shore drilling are encouraging.

Oh please. That was said in 1996, 2000 and especially in 2004.

You can't keep saying "most important election in our lifetimes" every presidential election and think it's going to have the same amount of emotional response and meaning.

As for McCain, if he wants my conservative vote, he can earn it. I'm not going to vote for McCain if he's going to keep going on about global warming, amnesty for illegal aliens and if he's going to pick a Lieberman or a Bloomberg as his running mate. Just no way.

Even Pavlov's dog would have stopped performing if he didn't get the anticipated reward. Yet, MacCainiacs, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, continue to salivate when they hear Juanito make more empty promises.

Thank you.

It's showtime: If you don't want Obambi and his gang o' thugs in charge of the country, you have to vote for McCain. Simple as that.

I think it's very important to vote AGAINST Obambi. There's only one way to do that.

here's as good as place as any on this thread for this "think about it" link

And those who vote for him out of fear are.....well, faint of heart is a polite way of putting it.

Those who believe that the Republicans blew a golden opportunity when they controlled the Executive and the Legislative branches and then vote for McCain are insane, IMHO. And that’s aside from the fact that McCain should be hung for treason for breaking his oath to protect and defend the Constitution. (And yes, that includes those who voted for it, the President who signed it and the SC judges that “permitted” it.)

Voting against Obama by voting for McCain IS voting on principles.

I agree wholeheartedly. On principle, I cannot refuse to do whatever is within my power to do to stop Obambi. I have an obligation to my country to vote for McCain.

Then go jump off a cliff already! (J/K) Or have Moby over for dinner-—he once claimed that we were SO DOOMED with George W. Bush in office that all he could think of to do was have friends over for dinner for the next 4/8 years.

How about losing the platitudes and start talking some cold hard facts here.

Who do you think is representative of the type of individual Obambi would install as Secretary of Defense, compared to the type of individual McCain would install to oversee the military? Or do you care?

Or do you care?

Good question for John McCain. Does he care that China is supplying weapons to our enemies? (You know, the guys killing our troops) If so, why the silence on the matter?
