I’ve never understood how underage girls can get abortions without parental consent.

If we treated abortion or abortion pills as any other medical treatment, you would see many forms with parental consent signatures required before anything could be done.

If you send your daughter to girl scout camp, many medical history and parental consent forms need to be filled out, including those granting permission for emergency medical treatment.

Yet on “health” matters related to abortion or a girl’s reproductive matters, parental consent is specifically not required, and in some cases avoided altogether.

If the core of Roe vs. Wade is that abortion is like any other medical procedure, why isn’t it treated the same as other medical procedures? And if underage girls need parental permission for medical procedures or medications, why are matters related to abortion exempted?

In fact, if Roe vs. Wade was intended for adult women, of legal age, to make these decisions, how is it that the same reasoning filtered down to teenage girls, who by law are not consenting adults and need parental permission for anything else?

In the same way that “We just want abortions in the first trimester” became a “right to partial birth abortion.”

This is the most obvious case of incrementalism, a tactic the left constantly uses. It’s a good idea to have a ready discusssion of this on hand to debate against the many things which you KNOW the lefties are aiming toward in the long run, but are just asking for “this harmless little bit” now!
