Ok, I just watched about two minutes of OReilly talking to Glenn Beck as both of them outsmarted themselves.
Actually, they were both outsmarted by Sarah Palin. They thought they could suggest Palin was less than qualified for the presidency because she wasnt specific enough in naming her favorite among the founding fathers.
Both OReilly and Beck have been left in the dust by Palin, as many here would expect.
Palins answer, showing a general regard for the ideas of the founding fathers rather than focusing on their individual personalities, is in fact consistent with John Adams idea that we are a nation of laws, not men. If we jump first to memorialize and immortalize the men behind the ideas, we forsake the ideas. Its the ideas that matter.
Palin gets it. Beck and OReilly dont.
O'Reilly, you've just been taken down. Again.
O’Really kept jabbing GB about “softball” questions. I kept wanting to yell at him “SHE’S NOT RUNNING FOR ANYTHING!” What was Beck supposed to grill her about and why? “SHE’S NOT RUNNING FOR ANYTHING!”
You would think the Dims would like her nuanced answer. Beck was just a jerk to her. The response on MS-NBC showed them to be idiot as usual.
Beck appears to be taking himself a bit too seriously.
Yes, it went over all their heads at pmsnbc, including Buchanan.
O'Reilly, in his arrogant attempt to point out a flaw in Palin, revealed a great gap in his own understanding and highlighted the superiority of her answer to Beck's question. Had she done as he later suggested, replied, "Thomas Jefferson, because he . . . ," she could have been simply providing a convenient and rehearsed answer, which would have said nothing about her comprehension of America's Revolutionary history.
Instead, by her answer, Palin rightly pointed out that the founding philosophy which birthed this nation was the result of a group of wise people who functioned as a whole. Her belief includes the Founders' own assessment that they operated under the guidance of Divine Providence. The wonder is that such a group of geniuses could have been assembled on this little sliver of land on the globe in that one little sliver of time in all of history and come up with such a perfect plan for preserving liberty for millions of oppressed people!
As one who has spent decades studying the writings of the founding generation--all of them--I believe Palin's acknowledgement of all the Founders, followed by her quick elevation of George Washington to a top spot as our First President, showed a depth of thought that simply escapes less perceptive minds.
Perhaps O'Reilly should begin to spend less time trying to prove or disprove the Far Left's opinion of Palin's intellectual abilities and more time recognizing his own limitations.
I saw both of Sarah’s interviews but I did not see Beck on BOR. So I don’t know what you saw there. However, regarding Sarah on Beck — I thought it was beyond awesome. They appeared to be of like mind. I didn’t see any friction between Sarah & Beck.
As far a BOR. He’s a POS. Only suckers still like him.
Right and I put this list on another thread, Washington, Jefferson, Revere, Henry, Hale, J.Adams, S.Adam, Jefferson etc. Who does he want to leave off his list of six possible answers to one favorite founding father.
That big gas bag Oreilly is loosing it I think. He makes everyone who works for FOX that comes on his show kiss his shiney little hiney. Like asking them “whose your daddy” and then waiting for them to reply, “oh you are Bill, of course!” Ive seen him do that with the women that come on, with Beck he is always making him remind the viewers who gave him his start at fox, and / or he is running the person down somehow, always grinning while doing it, like today when he made some remark about Gutfeld’s looks or something.
Playing the ratings game corrupts all of the talking heads on TV. And if Sarah wont play along because ‘her shields are up’ as Beck says, it probably scares them that she can be uber popular without playing the ‘suck up to everyone’ ratings game.
So who can blame Sarah for having her shields up? She probably rightfully guessed that BOR would use the palin/beck interview to his own twisted ratings game end.
Right after Beck and BOR said that she wasn’t ready to be president based on the beck/palin interview, they went on to push how freakin great they are and how their big BECK/OREILLY Bold Fresh jovial Tour around America is going to be so great. So much news airtime gets used for self-promotion.
Palin is going to drink both their milkshakes.
And what is this rumour that Bill Ayers is in trouble and may be on the outs at News Corp? Weird.
Beck is doing the country a great service by revealing things that previously have been hidden, by challenging the status quo, by focusing on the Founders' genius, and by doing these things in a manner that gets the attention of ordinary people. He, unlike O'Reilly, is not condescending, does not impose his views on his guests, and his questions lead to uncovering truth, not challenging motive or intellect.
Palin's co-workers at Fox need to establish their own credibility and trustworthiness with her. Otherwise, they are no better than the MSNBC political hacks.
Hey BO look in your rear view mirror. That fast approaching object is Beck who is about to pass you along with millions of followers. BTW, Sarah is smarter than the both of them put together. IMHO
No duh. Reminds me of Moses in a Cecil B deMille movie.
How come after Bernie Goldberg appears, a team of FOX personalities don’t get together and see if he measures up to their expectations?
Last night Goldberg was on BOR saying that Palin denied that 60 Minutes contacted her for comment, and that her answer was unintelligible. What a fricking liar he is. I went back watched the video of BOR’s interview with her, and read the transcript. Palin said the the two hacks whose book 60 Minutes was promoting never interviewed her. I then watched the 60 Minutes episode again, and at the very end they said that Palin’s spokesperson declined comment, saying that Gov. Palin had covered the campaign in her book.
Goldberg’s contempt for Palin, which he doesn’t hide, is getting a bit sickening. I suspect at least some of it comes from the fact that her book sold more copies than all his books combined.
Beck’s insistence on having Sarah name her “favorite” FF seemed infantile to me. Why are we alway wrapped up in who’s your “fave”, it’s bigger than that. That’s Beck basically saying “hurry up and finish talking so I can tell everybpdy who my favorite is”. I like him but that was lame and she showed aplomb AGAIN.
Agreed! Palin had a perfect response, sharing her view that the collective talents the founders was the critical point, then transitioning into admiration for the reluctant President who respected the office, Constitution, and the people.
Palin continued her good work with a FB post on Haiti and donating to the Red Cross. [Individual, not government charity!] and today’s post regarding the Union bribe and urging ‘Brothers and Sisters’ in the Union to avoid the trap.
Go, Sarah!
The “she’s smart enough” garbage should stop. If we’re really that concerned about ‘smart’, let’s start posting IQs. Most will prove to be average.
Sarah does herself no favors with “all of them”. By stating the generality, the impression is given she’s not prepared to answer the question for lack of detail.
Palin, like Bush, has intellect and capacity for knowledge, but is equally vulnerable on style of delivery. Unfortunately, superficial things matter in politics.
I don’t think she ever thought about who her favorite founder is. Most people don’t think about it that way, and haven’t since studying history in high school.
