Contrary to early reports from the Obama Administration that it was not aware of the catastrophic nature of the Gulf oil spill, newly-released Coast Guard logs show that the government knew within hours that the spill would be devastating.
According to Public Integrity, the government almost immediately assessed that the gusher would emit at least 8000 barrels of oil into the Gulf per day. By April 23 it had revised that estimate significantly upward.
And what did Barack Obama know, and when did he know it? The bombshell answer is from the Public Integrity report:
Over the first three days of the crisis — long before the public heard of a leak — the minimum estimate for a total well blowout ballooned eight-fold and the president was warned by his top aides that a major spill larger than the 1989 Exxon Valdez might be coming, according to the documents and interviews.
This fact, plus the Coast Guard's original assessment of the looming threat, were curiously omitted from official White House briefings on the spill.

I’m really getting tired of that retired head of the Coast Guard who isn’t the head of the Coast Guard anymore shooting his mouth off on TV. He needs to get off his fat ass and get down there and clean the beaches. If he can’t do that, he needs to go home. He’s retired.

I remember that BP went with the CG/gov’t estimates at first as they were lower than what BP thought. Hard to dispute this decision as Zer0 always knows best.
thats why they sent lawyers instead of help....to see what they could gain from the crisis...now we got fake clean up crews for photo ops and not help.

I am so infuriated..I was listening to Pat Caddell and he said it..WHO IS IN CHARGE? You just get a sense that nobody is in charge of this whole thing. There should be hundreds of workers out on those beaches saving those animals. There are things that can be done. I was so furious today Fox news guy was so emotional and said he sees some workers, but they were sitting around doing NOTHING. NOTHING. Texting. If it were a Repubican President, there’d be people protesting EVERYDAY on the lawn other WH and calls of impeachment would be heard everywhere..and you know what? THEY’D BE RIGHT. The lengths to which the media protects this man is unprecedented, and meanwhile, we’re dying...the country is dying.

Also, how come emergency workesr from other oil companies aren’t asked to help out...if we are only relying on the experience of ONE company, that in itsef is outrageous. We have to do more...that’s all there is to it.
Yep, they wanted it to be bad. The worse the crisis, the more power they will attempt to grab. While everyone is talking oil spill, I wonder what they are doing we don’t hear about?
Especially since the company in question is not the most experienced deepwater operator.
