Obviously, government at every level is dysfunctional for a host of reasons. As a result, we have to take greater responsibility for our own well-being.

Katrina is still the best argument for self-reliance. Oh, no! Here comes FEMA.

It is starting to remind me of the old Soviet Union where nothing worked the way it was supposed to, and there is good reason for that

You either prepare and stand on your own beholden to no one or you become dependent on others to provide your basic needs and become thier‘serf’. Me I don’t want to be beholden to anyone for providing what is needed for me and mine. I certainly don’t want to have to kiss some ‘gubberment’ third class bureaucratic to try and coax some help from them, I don’t want some ‘jack booted’ thug herding me in line and telling me where to stand, sit, eat or sleep. And last but not least I don’t want to be shut up in with a bunch of ‘zombies’ and have to worry about not only trying to get basic necessities but having to fight to keep what I manage to get.

Now anyone thinking that prepping is foolish ask you what’s easier telling your children and loved ones why you prepared or explaining to them why you didn’t?

But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8

But then someone has to stand on the bridge waiting for FEMA to bring them a bottle of water, an MRE and a warm blanket so as to provide the Network Anchors their background ‘Money Shot’. I wonder how that will workout for them?

Face it we’ve kicked the financial can so far down the road that we are running out of road and the can which was once the size of a soda can is now the size of an oil drum (Try kicking that!)

For those who are just starting or are old hands at prepping you may find my Preparedness Manual helpfull. You can download it at:

http://tomeaker.com/kart/Preparedness1j.pdf

NOTE! THIS IS A FREE DOWNLOAD. I DO NOT MAKE ONE CENT OFF MY PREPAREDNESS MANUAL!

For those of you who haven’t started already it’s time to prepare almost past time maybe. You needed to be stocking up on food guns, ammo, basic household supplies like soap, papergoods, cleaning supplies, good sturdy clothes including extra socks, underwear and extra shoes and boots, a extra couple changes of oil and filters for your car, tools, things you buy everyday start buying two and put one up.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

Or as the bible says: A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.
NIV Proverbs 22:3

Lastly this for the doubters and the scoffers.

“There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.

Underestimation can be fatal.”

Someone should run a tv commercial titled “Dawn in America”.

Whatever happens, I’ll disappear from public sight. Plus, this is the most Republican county in Texas and there are Bubba’s in their trucks with their guns everywhere and a large population has carry permits. We don’t take kindly to guberment people messing with us.

"I remember when this board used to have standards. "

I think physics has a law that explains what is happening.

I remember when authors checked their work for grammar and spelling. They’d never use vulgarity because there exists an English word for everything or some foreign word we’ll simply acquire and accrue for use.

Lowering standards simply leads to even lower standards.

That gem was in the original article - it was merely a quote. OK, maybe - MAYBE - Kartographer could’ve put in a few symbols for the last 3 letters, but I suspect that he just copied and pasted from the original article. I am not a huge fan of profanity, but neither does it make what little hair I have left curl in response. Frankly, when we’re talking about the literal destruction of our society because of the actions of a few self-annointed overlords, it seems that profanity is a good way to express one’s extreme disgust and anger.

Can we please get back on topic now?

I like to share these articles with my kids and they with their friends. I believe the thing that keeps conservatives strong is their uncompromisingly high standards. We shouldn’t lower them just because society is turning hard left.

That’s my only point and it’s worth pointing out to our allies that you don’t make your point better with vulgarity. Patton was a brilliant general and affected his vulgarity because he thought it was masculine. He was wrong.

“I’m here from the givernment and I’m here to help”...

'to help re-distribute your goods & wealth to others, because no one should have to suffer,
when we can 'justly & equitably' share out this food & these supplies,
after determining that YOU have too much,
and others have so little'...

There, now it correctly reflects our 'gubmint policy'.

Good ping, Kart.

Some good anecdotes in the article, but a lot of the author’s points have been covered to death elsewhere.

Some of the comments by bloggers are decent, too.

It is starting to remind me of the old Soviet Union where nothing worked the way it was supposed to, and there is good reason for that—both were failed attempts at centralization. Or, Globalization as this effort has been named. Or, New World Order as they used to call it. The end is one economy, one currency, open borders and one small group running it all…for the good of all Mankind. Democracy is out. Plutocracy is in. If you weren’t a big fan of totalitarianism or fascism, you’re really going to hate the New Plutocracy.

What we are witnessing is the byproduct of Centralization; the idea that one big giant entity run by one all-powerful bureaucracy is better than a bunch of much smaller entities run by local organizations.

This is the natural end result of over 100 years of collectivist/"progressive" policies and brainwashing. It is a foreign disease, brought to America's body politic in the late 1800's and showing its real strength for the first time in the disasterous year of 1913 - when we got the Fed and the income tax foisted on us, and the state selection of Senators taken away. Education is the only way to reverse these things, but with the collectivists in charge of most of education and the media, that is nearly impossible. Thus, we are largely screwed.

Even if the thinking changed 180 degrees, we have such an impossible fiscal situation that it is pretty much mathematically impossible to fix it, meaning that we'll have a situation in which our financial system will collapse, bringing on a change in government like they are used to having in other parts of the world (i.e. an overthrow of the present order, replaced by one kind of dictatorship or another). Preps, people, preps - and don't be the nail that sticks out, because we know what happens to them.

I entirely missed the word in the article, BUT I WANT TO MAKE CLEAR I did not re post the word here.

Now maybe I should have spotted the word in the article, but I have trouble editing my own work at times and I wasn’t aware I had to edited others.

Yes the world is going to hell and it’s a slow slide and the use of language now days in many cases don’t help I agree.

Since I missed the word I offer my apologies to any person that was offended by this article that I promoted with my post.

Now does anyone wish to discuss the actual subject of the article, the problems, solutions, suggestions covered in the article?
