Never again should we neglect, marginalize our military. Never again should we forget what it takes to build our defense. Vietnam Syndrome was kicked a quarter century ago in the deserts of the Middle East. Let's vow to never let it come back
By God, weve kicked the Vietnam syndrome once and for all. President George H.W. Bush after victory in Desert Storm
On Aug. 2, 1990, Operation Desert Shield was declared after Iraqi President Saddam Hussein invaded neighboring Kuwait and stood poised to invade Saudi Arabia. Desert Shield started as the defense of Saudi Arabia and lasted until mid-January 1991 when the air campaign of Desert Storm began.
By Feb. 28, 1991, at the end of a 100-hour ground campaign, Iraqi forces were effectively defeated. Interestingly, a quarter century prior to Desert Shield, in 1965, the first major conventional operations of the Vietnam War began when a battalion of the newly created air-mobile 7th Cavalry Regiment under Lt. Col. Hal Moore fought a division of the North Vietnamese Army in the Ia Drang Valley.
Vietnam and Iraq taught us never have a long war because you can’t guarantee that Democrats will take over and screw it up. Military we won in Vietnam: the North was defeated and the counter insurgency worked to diminish the Viet Kong.. SOUND FAMILIAR. Then the RATS cut off funding and support for the South....sound familiar....
When have we won a war since the end of WWII?
Yeah, the pendulum has swung and swung hard. We not only have a hollow military again, in terms of personnel and equipment, we have a military that is morally corrupt at its head.
Walter Cronkite the traitor and his comrades screwed us in Vietnam.
Vietnam Syndrome - Brought to you by the DemocRAT Party.
Korea, Vietnam (and lost the peace because of Democrats), Desert Storm, and Iraq (See Vietnam). If you think every war ends with the enemy agreeing to unconditional surrender and the occupation of their nation, I suggest you read up on The War of 1812, The Mexican War, The Spanish American War, and WWI. I’ll throw in the Falklands War for a little foreign flavor.
The Vietnam War was just one Theater in the larger Cold War.
We couldn’t do anything in Vietnam without considering the ramifications it would have with the Warsaw Pact and China.
Exactly. Very sad. But I must say, although no one is an angel, some at the top are not corrupt and immoral. However, they risk getting removed when they are in conflict with the immoral and dishonorable.
The military’s choice of queers and radical Muslims over Christians and American soldiers is really upsetting when we are supposed to be at war with radical Muslims and queers do not have more rights and freedoms than do Christians. They play loose with soldiers’ lives in their preferences for radical Muslims. The military’s traditional respect for religious freedom for Christians is down the crapper with queers and Christianity was it’s ethical spine.
Although I am from a military family and loved the US military, when one of my sons suggested he go into the military, I told him NO! Not in this military. It is not the US’s military anymore. It does not stand for America’s ethics nor character and it’s constitution.
the difference was the liberals were on the defensive
after Reagan pulled the country out of Carter’s nosedive and ended the cold war... libs couldn’t justify any of their bs.
More power to you that you consider those wars won.
The left has already marginalized the military. Now it’s working hard to marginalize your local police.
Thankfully 2016 is not too far away now. If the Donald gets in, we could very well see rebuilding start.
There is no possible definition other than the achievement of the objectives a nation has when going to war in the first place. I think you’d have a difficult time convincing the Argentines that they prevailed in the Falklands.
The clintons an obama and the democrat have made every effort to undermine the soldiers in and out of combat.
