Wedding ceremony *vanity*
12/27/15 | self

Posted on 12/27/2015 10:00:17 AM PST by gettinolder

I've been asked by my son and daughter-in-law to be to perform their wedding ceremony.

Any advice or any regrets or "wish I would have..." would be appreciated (primarily looking for non-clergy, but clergy advice welcome)

I'll do an online search for a format but looking for personal stories.

Already have Marriage Commission license for the legality.

This will not be a large event.

Congrats on being asked to do this - big honor. I would personalize it for the bride and groom - keep a laid back, comfortable atmosphere. Keep God as the focus of their union. Blessings

How is it that she is daughter in law if they are not married yet?

I wish I could have had my Dad do that. You are lucky.

Keep it personal, you know and love the kids. But remember....you are just a supporting player for the show. Ha ha.

As per my quick scan reading, the girl was described as “daughter in law to be.”

I've been asked by my son and daughter-in-law to be to perform their wedding ceremony.

I wouldn't because if they should ever get divorced in the future, they can blame it all on you.........

Go with traditional vows...and not the “make your own” kind....

A great wedding without "a great wedding photograph" is not a great wedding.

Hire a professional photographer who uses professional equipment.

Also, hire a young, energetic family member to take lots of photos of everyone before and after the ceremony.

No problem!

The other day I signed my first name “Rat” (it’s Ray) and was rather surprised when my correspondant addressed me as “Rat” lol!!

I had to go back re-read how I’d signed it, Rat of course because I wasn’t wearing cheaters I hadn’t caught it.

I hope not. I hope this young lady always feels very welcome in our home and they have a marriage that lasts until natural death.
