There’s nothing in the Constitution that forbids secession. The real impediment is that the US federal government will declare war on you if you try it.

That is hate speech right there. I know a woman who was fired for addressing a male colleagues as "hun." He felt debased and humuliated with his entire sexual persona destroyed by that hateful term understood so well in the South as the ultimate put down. "Can I get you the special today, hun?" No one puts up with that.
The southern states left the Union in the manner they entered . . . by special conventions.
But, since 1865, state membership is akin to the Hotel California.
And who will they use to wage that war?
Most of the states that want to secede have the military bases in them.
The ones that are t in Red States are in Red areas of the Blue state they are located in.
Ft Drum….conservative area.
The military bases in california are in areas that are Red.
Washington, outside of the insanity of Seattle, Ft Lewis, is pretty Red too.
It definitely would be interesting. Co so Sri g how many gets there are as opposed to the kids joining now that can barely pass a PT test and can’t get yelled at.
And I’m thinking that NOT one member to the Special Operations Command would take part in any fighting.
And given that about 80% of the military is combat support, I don’t think they’d fare too well, IMHO.
It would be a “Constructive Secession,” where we would offer “warm thoughts” when the Blue States got themselves into trouble - Democrat/communists are atheists so no - thoughts and prayers. We figure out how to divide the military and a few essential government agencies if there are any and that would be it.
Free travel between states but no voting rights for them in our states or us in their states unless and until citizenship was granted.
It would be like a Constructive abandonment divorce in family court.
That black homeland idea was pretty good actually. It would have solved many problems.
Texas v. White was decided after the Civil War and essentially outlawed secession. However, whether that opinion is accurate or even has merit was and is a matter of contention. Technically speaking Lez is correct but she should always be told to go Eff herself.

Which, as we all know, is why the Second Amendment exists and is not to be infringed, period. It’s not for hunting, and it’s not even for everyday self-defense (though that is a side benefit). It is to provide the People the means to repel a tyrannical government, and overtake and replace it if necessary. The only way to maintain that capability is by providing the People with the right to keep and bear the same arms that the military possesses, which was the original intent (especially since the “militia” WAS the military most of the time).
Of course, the usual response to that is something along the lines of, “So you think you should be able to have a nuke?”, the answer to which is “Sure, if I can gather a cash pile as large as a major country as well as the resources that such a nation would possess, which means that’s a silly question because it would never happen anyway.”
