This is not a vanity. It appeared as a news report by a named individual on a published site. Such sources could be scurrilous, but seems unlikely in this case, Still, not a vanity. A vanity would be an opinion you decide to post as an article giving you unsolicited advice to JR on how he should run his site, as an example. Reporting a fact of general interest if you were an eyewitness is a legitimate news report and also not a vanity. Being a vanity sort of starts with vain and connotes something trifling, a small matter of no consequence to anyone except you.
