Hey Joe! Where is the strongest jobs recovery in history??
BLS reported that in April the US added just 175K jobs, a nearly 50% drop from the upward revised 315K (was 303K)…
.. and a huge miss to estimates of 240K… in fact, as shown below, this was the biggest miss since Dec 2021
The weakness was pervasive, and while payrolls were a huge miss, the unemployment rate also rose more than expected, from 3.8% to 3.9%, vs estimates of an unchanged print.
Wages also eased back with average hourly earnings rising 0.2% MoM, below the expected 0.3% increase and down from last month’s 0.3% print. On an annual basis, earnings rose 3.9%, down from 4.1% last month and below the 4.0% estimate.
Where were the jobs added? Health care and social assistance with 87k jobs added.
The lousy jobs report sent odds of a Fed rate cut soaring.

The media is saying this news is GREAT! Why would unemployment be down? Maybe because people have to go back to work to pay for the inflated costs of goods and services.
I put some burgers on the grill last night $7.99 a pound, used to be 3.99, that’s a 100% cost increase. My boss did not double my salary recently....

IMHO it's all about the Fed propping up Brandon's sorry economy during an election year. Of course, that makes prices at the store go higher. But everybody's 401K gets artificially inflated.
I cooked a steak for the two of us a couple days ago. First steak in a long time. $22/pound for boneless New York. $26 chunk of meat. We each got about 8 ounces of meat (without fat or gristle) on our plates which we devoured. It’s a rare treat now.

Yep, because of illegals and H1B even the few jobs are not going to Americans.

The usual cherrypicking.
The current unemployment rate is 3.9%. Full employment is 4.0%. There are plenty of things to gripe about but unemployment isn’t one of them.

Those stats are as close as possible. They are also kept by all those huge corporations everybody loves to hate, and those people know the score and invest based on the figures. Fantasies notwithstanding. $Trillions in investments depends on those stats.
Watching the gov't reported inflation figures is the most obvious case. Many, if not all, of us do some shopping. We know what has happened to prices over the past several years. We can see it directly. The government-reported inflation rate figure is absolutely bogus.
Another obvious one is when we are told by officials that "the border is secure; it is closed." Here they are not stretching the truth or fudging a number a bit. They are outright lying.
This goes on in all administrations, of course. But with democrats: especially Clinton, Obama and now Biden, they have brought lying to an entirely new level of blatancy.
So like with the mainstream media, I believe nothing they tell me without independent verification.
