Paltrow bemoans life in Britain

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has told Americans of her moans about British life in a women's magazine this month.

Paltrow says she finds the UK's streets are dirty, the weather cold and its customer services "rubbish" in an interview with Marie Claire US edition.

The Oscar-winning actress lives in London with husband Chris Martin of Coldplay and their daughter Apple.

The actress once complained that British men never asked her out. She married Martin in 2003.

In the article, Paltrow describes being an expat living across the Pond to her fellow Americans and warns "Bring a raincoat, definitely ... or at Least a little umbrella that can fit in your bag, because it always does rain."

She said Martin thought she was "way too obsessed with cleanliness and germs".

The star added: "I'm just like 'The street is filthy, could we take off our shoes before we come into the house'.

In the article, which is not included in the UK's edition of the magazine, Paltrow admits that after years of finding Britain "cold and depressing" she has grown to like it.

Isn't this the same brat who thought she was much too sophisticated for the USA? She must be a barrel of laughs to live with. Ugh...

This foolish woman isn't happy anywhere! I'm sorry for her.

Yeah, her physical location has absolutely nothing to do with her misery.

Maybe she'll figure that out.

She should try leaving London. England is gorgeous once you get out of the capital.

"This foolish woman isn't happy anywhere!"

That pretty much sums up the left. Plus, no reason to feel sorry for her; she has decided to be unhappy.

That's so true. She is a miserable creature and rather two faced as well. When in America she bad mouths England. When in England she rips America. She isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier which is probably the source of her misery.

Oh darn, I forgot the sarcasm tag. It should read: "I feel sorry for her." /sarcasm. Good catch, kenth. LOL!

I have to agree with her. Restaurant service is atrocious in England. That's why my sister and her husband who live there NEVER tip. Britain is also way behind the times in accommodating the not so able bodied. Try getting up an escalator to catch a subway train with a baby carriage or in a wheel chair? Londoners are pushy and rude - although maybe its the same way in New York, I don't know. England also has a terrible problem with bullying in school - likely because the English don't discipline their children.

I've nothing bad to say about London or Britain. I've had a few bad experiences there, yes. But I've also had bad experiences in NYC or any other major city. City-dwellers are pretty much the same worldwide. The Brits as a whole are very polite and accommodating. As far as their kids lacking discipline, where have you been? That's a major American problem too.

In America, the streets are paved with gold. Unfortunately things here are "rotten" so she is determined to "rough it" in a "dirty" country.

They live the fantasize over a socialist utopia. And with their easy money, they are sure to be "more equal" than the other animals on the farm.

Is she getting a fake accent like Madonna?
Gwyneth, dear, Start your own prefect country with you and your husbands tens of millions of dollars. Leave the US and Britain out of your mouth until you have achieved perfect customer service.

The difference is bullying is tolerated in England. I live in Canada so maybe things here are different. But bullying is NOT tolerated in schools here anymore.

To be honest, I find Scots much more polite and easy to talk to. Then again Scots are also notorious socialists, so...

I guess Londoners are not all that bad. It's a great place to visit but I would never want to live there.

People are very rude and pushy on the subway and display zero courtesy to those carrying children. But as you said perhaps New York is exactly the same.

I wouldn't say London is dirty. I went to Glasgow. The people are far nicer, but old Glasgow is really run down ... a victim of economics.

She appears to be turning into the poor depressed woman she played on the big screen: Sylvia Plath.
