Gore invented the Internet. Now Kennedy reveals his technological sophistication too. ***************************
Dear Joe Blow,
Did you know that I was the first Senator to have a website?
The site keeps me in constant touch with the people of Massachusetts and others across the country. It's been particularly true in recent years, as the TedKennedy.com community has grown to hundreds of thousands of committed Democrats.
The broadband era has brought a new wave of participation in our democracy. People read more, speak out more, and take more action on important issues. That benefits Democratic candidates, and other causes that need our help.
Now all of that is in jeopardy.
Some telephone and cable companies want new caps and controls on what we can or cannot do online. They are threatening the concept of "Net Neutrality" -- the principle of a free and open Internet, in which the companies that control the infrastructure cannot use that power to control the content.
We need to build an ever faster Internet in order to compete effectively in the world, create good jobs here at home, and meet the needs of our citizens. This mission is extremely important and Congress has an essential role in ensuring that such an infrastructure is built.
Net Neutrality ensures that the Internet will continue to be an open forum for free speech. Please watch this important video to learn more about this issue:

Net Neutrality is needed to protect the innovative, democratic spirit that has characterized the Internet from the start. All Americans should have equal access to the Internet, and it must remain free from discrimination and anticompetitive behavior.
I hope you'll take a moment and watch this video explaining the issue, then join millions of Americans who have pledged to support net neutrality:

We've watched President Bush and his rubber-stamp Congress hand over our national security to his special interest cronies. We've watched them try to turn over much of their legislation to corporate interests, be it the bankruptcy bill or the energy bill.
We cannot allow them to hand over the best tools of communication in our democracy to the telecom industry.
Please get involved in the fight to protect Net Neutrality:

The Internet has enabled us to build this powerful and thriving new community.
Now let's put it to good use and protect our future together.
Sincerely,
From the title I thought it would be about Al "I invented the website" Gore.
The swimmer, dude. The swimmer.
"Check out my website" was cool in 1993
This whole "net neutrality" thing is confusing to my not-especially-tech-savvy self. Could someone with computer-knowledge please tell me what the hell it is, and if it goes away, what can/can't be done that can't/can be done now?
There. Fixed.
The Swimmer's Myspace? Well, back in '93 I guess it would have been a Geocities site.
The forum on his website is worth a laugh if you have a few minutes to kill one day. Lots of folks praising Teddy for doing such a great job taking money from those who work and giving it to those who don't.
I think he meant "webbed feet"
"Thar she blows!"
I Was The First Senator To drown a young woman in a car
Where is Captain Ahab when you need him?
I wonder how much deleting he has to do....now that Freepers know of his website....hang on swimmer...you might not want to keep your website much longer....the truth hurts when said right.....
We need to build an ever faster Internet in order to compete effectively in the world, create good jobs here at home, and meet the needs of our citizens. This mission is extremely important and Congress has an essential role in ensuring that such an infrastructure is built.IOW, the role of Congress isn't to ensure financial viability, but rather to pay for? build? control? in order to assure "free speech".
