When we were flying into Washington, D.C. this spring, I noticed the Blue Ridge Mountains and they exhibited a similar pattern. We were high enough to see a couple of the folds.

In geology, these are probably anticlines or synclines, depending on which way the rocks dip.
Yes, the unclines fold the opposite direction to the anticlines.
