A woman has been given a driving ban after being caught more than twice the legal alcohol limit - while riding a 2.4mph mobility scooter.
Amanda Leaff, 46, said she had taken the buggy from an Asda supermarket to save herself the taxi fare for her trip home.
A court was told yesterday how it would have taken Leaff, of Stretford, Manchester, more than four hours to complete the ten-mile journey, had she not been spotted 'driving erratically' by an off-duty police officer.

I, for one, definitely feel safer knowing that this scofflaw has been reprimanded.
I heard of someone else who was driving a forklife in a building who was cited, at least according to the press, for drunk driving.
And another kid who was fifteen and in a fist fight with another fifteen year old and was arrested.
Here they usually catch them on lawn tractors...

can one be cited for drunk driving for riding an unlicensed non traditional vehicle? Is everything against the law. Do we have to be perfect in public?
I wonder if drunken sledding would get one arrested..

Too bad she did not simply commit murder. She’d receive a lesser punishment in Britain.
Driving a forklife while drunk is hughly serious!
I would think stealing the scooter from the gocery store would be an even more serious crime.
