A team of scientists based at the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden have made a "revolutionary" discovery about how hydrocarbon is formed, learning that animal and plant fossils are not necessary to form crude oil.
The discovery, the scientists say, means that the world will never run out of crude oil.

Titan, one of Saturn’s moons has plenty of methane.
I never believed all these cars on the interstate 24/7 where running on composted fossils.
I’m going to go put a blown Hemi on my lawnmower.
The Obamessiah touched his staff to the rock, and oil gushed forth.
Just one?!?

For a long time I theorized that crude oil was some kind of primordial substance. I hope the heads of the watermelons explode over this.

yea, I was wondering if there was anything about saving the trees and the environment on Titan.
It probably is in the budget.
It does not matter if it’s being renewed, if the rate of renewal is much less than the rate of usage.
Maybe some day the liberals will discover the carbon cycle and realize that atmospheric carbon doesn’t just stay there forever.
Well, focusing on petroleum products is rather stupid in the long run, but I’m sure there is a upside to this research. The point I am trying to make is that it may result in new refining and extraction methods which can sprout all sorts of new technologies. Eventually we will need to move away from petroleum but it must be done gradually. Hell, Mercedes-Benz wants to be petroleum free within 50 years
I think it is made from PRESSURE on rocks and sand, making it into a liquid. Call me stupid, I NEVER thought it was from dead plants and animals.
Good. Now I expect the price of oil to come down, way down!
Right, they will never bring this to light....who would Obama bow to?
Abiogenic oil is as real as anything else I’ve heard on coast to coast AM.
Thomas Golds The Deep Hot Biosphere - read it if you haven’t:
I think you are correct. About 30 years ago, one of three major networks did a segment in which a scientist compressed under fairly high pressure a ton or so of household garbage. The end result-a barrel (a gallon?) of crude oil.
