On history channel now, after armageddon. Television show depicting survival challenges after a catastrophic event. Great for the survival list!

So far it is interesting.
I always hate these shows when they basically lay out targets for Al Queda. Now granted, a terrorist who is trying ot take down the country might think of these things, but some of these things might not even be on their radar until they see it on TV. Like they just discussed that there are only 5K people trained to operate the Nuclear power facilities. So rather than trying to take out a facility, now they might just think, well we just need to take out these people and it’s a whole lot easier to take them out in their homes than in a heavily armed and secure Nuke Site.
We give terrorists too much credit sometimes. There are not rooms full of Cobra scientists and military strategists coming up with targets and a war strategy to take things down, they’re looking at major targets that get them the most terror for the buck. We continue to feed them with new intel and new ideas, why should they spend money on coming up with ideas when The History Channel, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and Hollywood are doing the work for you.
We new Germans were looking for subs in WW2, but we didn’t show them what kind of weapons worked best, where to hit it, and their traditional lines of travel. I say let’s leave some Easter Eggs in these broadcast with tempting MIS-information, laying traps, not creatign open doors.

Thanks for the tip. I watched it. I thoroughly enjoyed mocking that urban, metrosexual family as they made mistake after mistake. How about leaving two guns on the warehouse floor before fleeing from armed men? That was good thinking. NOT!
Oh, that was priceless. If any of that had been for real, that nice little family would have been dead before they even thought of getting out of town. Great bug-out kit, huh?
Mine assumes worst-case - that I’ll be on foot - and I sure the hell don’t want to be dragging Hartmann luggage behind me like those dweebs. My kit is also built with the assumption that I’ll have to fight my way to get to where I’m going.
Totally what me and the hubby were yelling. You should tune in tonight for Apocalypse man, former USMC with survival tips. Hubby is former SF and he couldn’t believe I didn’t know if you touch a 9 volt battery to steel wool it catches fire. Looks like it will be a good show.

I’ve said the same thing to my husband. The same with the Military Channel. I know no Top Secret things are shown, but I can’t see how giving any kind of intel out through television is beneficial, especially in the times we live.
The thing I liked about it I think it really was pretty realistic. People will try to drag their luggage and bring all their crap with them. Of course that family never would have made it but it gets the brain juices flowing and makes you think down into minute detail. I also liked the “experts” woven through the program. I am going to do a little research on the book Just in case, how to be self sufficient when the unexpected happens by Kathy Harrison.

She was the woman talking about farming and dietary needs while in a survival situation. Another issue that got me thinking is, what skills do I have that will be valuable when it all goes to hell? Like they said, being a skilled day trader won’t be as valued as knowing how to grow a successful garden.
I have to agree with you. I was also amused that they felt uncomfortable in the Nevada town that had too much religion and old-style justice for their refined tastes. I'm guessing they actually left that town to look for a Starbucks that had survived the catastrophe.
